I need some pointers on a new diet.
Since I always feel tired and am "skinny-fat" (160lbs approx.) I would appreciate you guys helping me plan a diet and exercise program.
Through this, I would like to lose fat (I have no desire to put muscle on) and also feel as energetic as possible.

At the moment my meal patterns are pretty irregular and when I do eat, I probably eat too much. I currently partake in no regular exercise.

I would appreciate it if you could tell me

1) Would it be best not to eat protein and carbohydrate in the same sitting? I read this in an old Anthony Robbins book and I realise this may be outdated.

2) Would it be best to eat six smaller portions per day?

3) What should I be eating to maximise energy, alertness etc while contributing towards my fat loss?

4) What exercise, aerobic or anaerobic, should I do and how frequently should I do it?

I forgot to mention, my sleeping pattern is ****ed! I usually go to bed at 2-4am and have to get up at 8:30am, although even if I wake up at 12 noon I am still tired.

I know this is a crucial area that needs to be addressed but I wanted to know how long I should be sleeping for: either a recommended number of hours or until I wake up naturally? The problem with the latter is when I wake naturally, I'm still groggy so I just go back to sleep. Bastard.

Looking forward to responses
Thanks

YOU ARE SKINNY FAT AND DON'T WANT TO PUT ON MUSCLE?

THE BEST THING FOR FAT LOSS WOULD BE THE ANABOLIC DIET BUT THAT MAY BE TOO EXTREME FOR YOU. PERHAPS JUST EAT HEALTHILY AND DONT EAT CARBS AFTER DINNER TIME, ALTHOUGH VEGGIES ARE STILL OK. CUT ALL BREADS/PASTAS ETC OUT AFTER DINNER BASICALLY

2) Would it be best to eat six smaller portions per day?

YES

3) What should I be eating to maximise energy, alertness etc while contributing towards my fat loss?
MAXIMIZE ENERGY? GET ON THE ANABOLIC DIET. LOTS OF FAT FOR ENERGY. LOTS OF FAT LOSS TOO

4) What exercise, aerobic or anaerobic, should I do and how frequently should I do it?

AIM FOR 3X30MINUTES AEROBIC. SOMETHING LIKE ROWING OR THE ELLIPTICAL. YOU CAN BUILD UP TO 5 DAYS A WEEK IF YOU WISH BUT MAKESURE THE INTENSITY ISN'T TO HIGH OR YOU'LL BURN OUT.

AIM FOR AT LEAST 8 HOURS SLEEP. I PREFER 9 MYSELF :) GETTING TO BED BEFORE MIDNIGHT AND GOING TO SLEEP/ GETTING UP AT THE SAME TIME IMPROVES ENERGY LEVELS

Responses in bold.

I'd also to some weight training but you implied you wouldn't be interested. Go to stronglifts.com for anabolic diet advice.

How tall are you? You don't seem that fat...gaining muscle while losing fat should be your goal. Although its harder than the Bulk/Cut cycle imo it is so much better and will save you loads of time. If you want to lose weight till your about 140 with no prior muscle building then you will look like a shrimp (I'm hungry for shrimp now)...but if thats the look your going for, then go for it. But i doubt that...
