I'm really not sure your reasoning for asking this question because only YOU know what it takes. We dont know how you or your mates play, or who sucks, and who doesn't.

You should be able to answer this on your own. And if not i'll tell you the answer. GIVE IT ALL YOU HAVE.

You kind of partially answered your ? already. PROVE TO YOUR COACH YOU ARE WORTHY.

That's what you have to do. Do what ever it is you do.

Lowest pad wins. Your job as tackle is to fill your assigned gap, create at least a stalemate at the line, and make sure the runnning back has nowhere to go. Quick feet and technique will get you far. They've probably taught you rip and swim moves. You'll be going against high school linemen who are for the most part, fat, slow, and not that bright. Shoot through your gap at about knee level with your head up, under control. On pass rush, deliver the blow, and knock the o lineman back into his quarterback.

Yea i usually fill my gap and the linebackers get the tackle when the running back goes far to the outside, LBs love me for it :)

Good for you. I was also going to tell you that LBs are supposed to make the tackles. You are doing the right thing if the RB is bouncing outside on plays that are supposed to go inside. That's the type of amateur hour running you'll see in high school. On plays like that, the RB is going to get yelled at by a coach for not hitting the hole, then he'll whine that there was no hole, then they'll tell him to make one if there is not one there. It's fun to watch as a tackle when you know that you caused it all. Offense is creating order; defense is creating turning that order into chaos.

I don't know what offenses you see in practice, but some offensive plays will leave the last down lineman unblocked for the pulling backside guard to kick out. If after a snap, no one hits you at all - and it is a weird sensation because you are used to contact, you'll know it when you feel it - turn to the inside and look for that pulling backside guard. If you don't see him coming, he'll mow you down with his momentum. But if you turn and hit him, you knock him back into the hole he is supposed to be making, spoiling their play like you are supposed to.

Thanks for the advice, i just ended the game and my team won buy a TD or 2 im not sure of the score. Im on scout D during practice but i was put on offense today, i played for 2 quarters then my coach put in some 10 foot scrawny loser who cant make a block if his life depended on it, and i sat out the rest of the game, im sooooo damn frustrated becuase im a HUGE ass guy! I get told that alot, yet my coach doesnt play me? I know I can play defense but my coach is being an ******* and idk why
