I'll be coming into a REALLY good paying job soon and the 1st thing I need to due is retire my current mode of transportation and get a new one.

So far I have it narrowed down to the new GTO with 400 hp, Jeep Rubicon unlimited, F-150 Lightning, or hold out for another yr for the '06 Mustang Cobra.

I like them all and would by them all if I could but this job isn't THAT good.;) So what do you guys think would get me the most tail.?:D

Here's my opinion. Depending on how much you are willing to spend there are a lot of options. From the sounds of it you can afford in the high 30's maybe low 40's.

My initial reaction would be to say get a c6 Corvette. Sex on wheels, but those will run you about 45k.

The GTO is ok, but the body styling is crap and it's heavier then the corvette.

Don't get a ford, they suck.

Of course I'm going to tell you to look at a 350Z Track edition. 300HP, just as light as a corvette, sweet body styling, I could go on. This'll run you about 34-35K and definetely worth the money. You could even get a GReddy twin turbo kit for it for about 3500 if you'd be willing to do that.

If you have to get any of those, I'd say the GTO, but please consider the Vette first. Its basically the same car except a lot better.

Do not get a GTO, every single review i read stated "too little for the money"

I second 350z.. there is a guy i know who put spinners on his, and a nice system.. well that thing simply rocks (may be nice rims instead of flashy spinners)

When i get an upscale car, i want it to a.be fast. b. look good. Oh, the new mercedes in the 40k range is simply beautiful, i think it is SLT series.. look that coupe up.

Corvette... best sports car for 45k right now. I love the new look, if you do too, consider driving to MN and letting me test drive :p

Create self-fulfilling prophecies. Always assume the positive. Assume she likes you. Assume she wants to talk to you. Assume she wants to go out with you. When you think positive, positive things happen.

You can't go wrong with a Supra....
Stock Twin Turbo Inline 6 with 320hp
0-60mph in 4.9secs

And thats just stock. Nice car, nice engine, just plain nice. Put $8,000 into it and you'll be pumping 800hp. Put $33,000 and you will have a 1200hp monster. *drool*

Of the choices you mention I would go with the GTO but I would take it as a 1969 hardtop. 'Course thats just me.

its a car! unless you are making loads and loads of money, or planning to keep it for 10 years, i dont think you should spend so much.

say you where making $40,000 a year and bought a $30,000 car every 4 years well you seriously sghould not spend money like that, its just to much to spend. thats like almost 20% of your money you will make over the time you keep it.

I think you should aim for less then 10%

most people i know my age (16) do not have much money, even if they have a job, i do nto have a job i get £10 a week pocket money, i do not have £1000 in my bank acocunt from such a low income, by spending it all.

you could get yourself nicer house with that kind of money and unlike cars houses go up in value not down.

so either buy a nice car and kepe it for a long time or settle for less and buy a new 1 every 4 years.

i know what i would do in your position (buy a nice car and try and keep it in good condition so i can keep it for 10 years and it still looks good)

You have to give it to the Nips, they make great, fast, reliable cars and very fast but not so reliable when you mod them.

Insurance is the big killer for young blokes in the UK, what about in the states?

For instance a 25 year old with a clean licence would probably pay about £2k for a standard 6 year old Gen III Rx7.

The 350z is nice new, but you throw so much money down the toilet when you buy a new car.

No way. Maybe 33000 for an 800 hp (DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW MUCH HP 800 IS?!) Then about 60-100K for 1200 hp.

My picks...

2004 Neon SRT4 @ 20K

2005 Evolution @ 30K

2005 WRX Sti @ 33K

2004 cobra, easy to make sick fast with mods, a highway monster for sure...

I agree the new C6 vette is great value @ 50Kish

C5 vette better than the GTO (but the GTO is cheaper and heavier)

The TT supra is mean as hell, but are you looking for a daily driver? Can you even get that 800 hp to the ground?

I drive an STi, which is a great all around package, was compared in a hot rod magizine shootout vs. the 2003+ cobra...The STi come out on top by a bit stock for stock.

I'm being serious here guys, 1200hp upgrade for $33,000

Don't believe me? Check out www.suprastore.com

But yeah, gas and insurance are great........
Look on the bright side, you can get a boost controller and get better economy that way.

And yes, I know what 800hp is. Ok, so i've never driven a car with more than 120hp but I can dip into my library of supra race vids and refresh my memory.

Now that I think about it, Supras ARE discontinued.......................
You... are... right.... you... definately.... don't.... want... a... Supra...
Just make it that harder for me to find when I can afford it:D

Exactly where I want to be.
d00d buy it civic nad rice it out

Err...You may want to consider buying a stylish older car and restoring/preserving it. I don't know about you guys, but there's just something - an aura, almost - that goes with those older cars that still look like they just rolled out of the factory, if not better.

Spinners, wings, fart cans, neon, all that Fast & Furious stuff is gay and soon to be played out.

The C6 is awesome.

And the C6-Z06 is coming out in January.

500 HP/500 lbs. torque.
0-60 in 3.5 seconds.
1/4 mile in about 11.3 seconds.

Rumors of a Z06 convertible are also in the air.

The GTO is a good value to, but I don't like the looks.

BTW, did Ford upgrade the Mustang suspension, or are they still using that old straight axle chassis that they've been using since the 70's that handles like crap?

1st off. The Z06 won't be released until the production 06 models come out in september.

2nd, the chances of there being a Z06 convertable are slim to none because it goes against the principles of the z06.

3rd, they put on an independent rear suspension that people are always b*tching about.

If you're looking for an LS1 based engine, go for a 4th gen Camaro/Firebird. Put 12,000 on a nice Super Sport/WS6 and mod the hell out of it. Bolt ons will get you past 400HP easily. If you sunk a few thousands you'd easily be pushing 800+ HP.

I like the styling of the 4th gen f-bodies more than the GTO. But the new C5 is sex on wheels.

Actually I know a guy who hit 815 rwhp with about 6k in mods. So it can be done.

But, the Supra doesn't have any balls under 4K rpms, unless you get an auto with a high stall.

From the cars listed your looking for some low end torque too, which is fun to drive around town.

Go out and drive the cars you like, this will help.
