I am working on developing a well-rounded skin care regimen to give myself nice and healthy skin. I have a minor case of facial acne (little problem controlling it though) and some back acne. I play sports a lot and sweat a lot. I used to just use the basic products, you know Irish Spring soap and what not. So far, I'm looking at the following:

Morning
- Shave
- Shower w/ Salicylic Acid Body Wash and/or Benzoyl Peroxide Wash(brand recs??)
- Shampoo (need a good moisturizing shampoo, is 2 in 1 sufficient or should I get a conditioner as well??)
- After shower, put on 2% Salicylic Acid Facial Wash
- Wait a few minutes and apply Neutrogena SPF 15 Moisturizer (Neutrogena is hot!! Just got it today, what have I been missing??)

Night
- Apply tiny bit of Benzoyl Peroxide creme to entire face/neck

That's about all! Am I missing anything in my regimen and can you suggest good products? I'd especially like to get this back acne abolished! I think my face regimen is adequate, but I'm a bit uneducated on body washes for the shower. I may want something to work against blackheads too. Also, I shave with an electronic shaver and use no lotion or creme, is this a problem?

Thanks!

Firstly, about your moisturizer, I've been lookin for a good one. What do you find is good about this neutrogena moisturizer?

next, its common knowlege to apply BP cream to face/neck twice a day - in the morning and at night. Yes, it does dry your face if using a high enough percentage (I currently use 10% - what percent is yours?) so I apply it to my face/neck in the morning THEN apply moisturizer.

next, you say to use only a tiny bit? The regimin I'm on that I discovered on a site tells me to USE A GOOD AMOUNT - and through using this I found it MINIMIZES breakouts if you stick to the regimin.

Finaly, your electric razer is fine as long as it doesn't irritate your skin. The only problem I find with an electric is it doesn't shave close enough for me - but for you that may not be a problem.

Jimbo,

I just put on a dab of the Neutrogena moisturizer to try it and it absorbs perfectly into my skin, says it lasts 12 hours, and it makes my face feel smoother than it has ever felt before. It's also oil free so it's a dry smooth feel to my face. Absolutely wonderful, but it was like 12 bucks for 4 oz....still should last a few months, though so I think it's worth it.

Do I really need BP creme twice a day? I use 10% and it has been fairly effective. I use a salicylic acid in the morning and I read the two don't work well together so that's why I only apply BP once. I think that you only need a small quantity of BP unless you have bad acne. I am in my 20s so I don't get breakouts, just a spot here and there. My regimen seems to keep all that under control so I don't want to up it unless there is clear evidence I should.

What about a body wash in the shower? Back acne is my biggest problem, but I don't yet have a trusted recommendation for handling that.

I also forgot to mention I want to exfoliate 2-3 times a week and need a good exfoliator.

Looking forward to hearing your comments on this....

Come to think of it, I've used Neutrogena before my parents bought some new crap. What you described (it absorbing perfectly) is also what I experienced. I should go out and buy some of that, this new stuff tends to clump and look pastey.
Thanks for the reminder!

As for you being in your 20's, if your regimin calls for little BP and only once a day, and it is working, by all means, do that.
Your right, my regimin is for more sever acne (more prone to teens) that is why I do that regimin (Im 18).

Unfortunately, my knowlege has expired for the rest of your inquiries. I never had severe body acne thus knowing no treatment for it, nor ever exfoliated. All I can recommend is seeing a dermatologist.

Goodluck, acnes a b*tch.
