For those days when I forget my lunch at home, or I'm on the road, what are the healthiest things to buy in a rush?

so far I've been sticking to subways 6" turkey or roast beef with regular mustard on brown bread.

Tim Hortons always has healthy stuff... not sure if they'd be in your area however, its a canadian company that recently expanded to the us.

double cheeseburger.

What makes people think subway is healthy? The commercials tell you so and while waving around a banner that says 2g of fat?

I didn't know Subway had mole.

How about Chipotle? I always exclude cheese and sour cream.

If i forget/don't have time to make my lunch i'll mix and match these

1) Go buy some lean beef jerky (they have organic jerky at the Acme) and nuts.
2) Buy a protein drink (muscle milk is sold at the gas station by my work but is $4 a bottle!)
3) Mcdonalds - i'll buy 4 hamburgers.... Take all 4 of the hambrgers out of their buns and put them inbetween 1 bun (so i essentially have 4 hamburger patties under 1 bun) i found that trying to eat the hamburger plain was disgusting... but the bun is so good that 1 bun can cover up the taste of 4 patties... only cost about $3.70. 30G Fat/30G Carbs/36G Protein. 510 Calories.

I go to mcdonalds because my only other choice is Dunkin Donuts, which is very dirty place!

I have Timmie's on every street ;) I'm on the south shore of Montreal, the only other place with a higher person to timmy ratio is TO :p

I've looked at their stuff and was not too impressed.

I usually get a sandwich in the morning with coffee if I'm running late:

Calories: 510 Fat: 33 g Protein:18 g Carbs:35 g

actually their sandwiches dont look half bad:

Calories: 360 Fat: 11 g Protein: 18 g Carbs: 48 g

Bukoski: Jerky's pretty good idea, but expensive here. but I don't think I'm gonna touch mc D's unless its an emergency, I just dont like em :(

I have been eating a lot of 99 cent McChickens lately.
http://www.nutritiondata.com/facts/foods-from-mcdonalds/6232/2

I'm impressed by McDonald's being able to sell it for that price. There's no way I could make the same sandwich for a buck, even if I raised and killed my own chicken.

Fast food is not healthy, unless your activity levels are high enough. If you exercise enough, then it won't matter what you eat

I love those articles about Chipotle. They complain about the amount of calories, fat and other b.s. Just don't eat the entire f***king burrito or get a bowl. There's your solution. The ingredients are great and healthy otherwise.

Anyway, it's perfect for me. I have to about 4000 calories a day to maintain weight.

Chipotle could be decent if you get the bowl, skip the cheese/sour cream, get min to non guacamole and load up on veggies. I think chicken is the best as far as meat goes.

Also, here in NY there a lot of Chinese restaurants, and I always get their steamed chicken with broccoli and brown rice, get some garlic sauce for extra flavor.

I also heard that veggie pizza is a decent choice; not so sure about that though.

If you are eating out might as well enjoy it

but grilled chicken is always a winner.

Tim Hortons sucks my balls, so little food.

I'd like to know why you think subway is unhealthy.

Lots of reasons.....

They used refined flour in all their breads, even their "wheat" bread is not 100% whole grain. All their cold cuts are processed and have tons of sodium and preservatives in them.

Its really a joke how Subway has the whole country brain washed. Now it definitely beats traditional fast food, but its definitely not healthy in my opinion.

Spend a couple hours every Sunday planning food for the week. Cook up tons of food in mass quantities, freeze them and then re-heat and eat them at work. Save money, eat healthy, problem solved.

PIMP, that's my plan. I was just making this thread about alternatives, mainly, what to eat should I not have time to cook, or (as I often do) cook my food and forget it on the counter.

I've had good results from eating the McChicken classic at McDonalds. I get it plain with no garnishments at all, so it's just chicken and a bun. I don't know for certain, but the bun seems sort of wheat-y, not like your regular McD bun, so it doesn't seem too bad. It's a nice jolt of protein on the go, and it's more filling and less expensive than the gas station protein shakes.
