I'm not as big as some of the larger guys at the gym but i put up the same if not more weight than they do (with better form).

I'm starting to notice alot of them try shouldering me, or bumping me or walking past me trying to be intimidating..this actually pisses me off and i stare em down ready to brawl..anyone else having similar trouble

I go to a college gym and I'm the only one that does squats and deads while everyone is getting their "bench" up.

Haha, they're just intimidated, take that as a sign of success!

I can't wait till I get into a real gym where there's tonnes of mofo's who have no clue what they're doing. Keep it up, that's just them 'hazing' you, once they see you having heaps of success they'll start coming to you for advice n stuff.

Personally I haven't experienced that, but I've played in some pretty competitive sports where that is normal. The 'tough guys' or alpha's of the pack see someone who stands out--or does something unusual-- and tries to put you back into line. Then they'll start to respect you and give you some space. After that they start to look up to you and take advice from ya.

Rock on!

Add 50g protein per day to your diet and get yourself some giant quads and next time someone does that pick them up and put them on your back and squat them

Are you sure you did not piss them off in some way other than simply lifting more weight then them? I never heard of someone getting bullied at a gym.

Drum&Bass probably doesn't put the weights back in the proper place. Damn 45s sitting on the 5 bar of the tree.

Maybe he's the guy who comes in on Fridays between 12 and 3pm who in the squat rack does the following:

Puts 4 45s on the bar. Uses the clamps (?!). Puts the safety bars into the rack in the lowest possible position ABOVE the weights blocking all reasonable lifting. Leaves the weight there after working out. Never adds weight. I have no idea what exercise this person does because a row isn't possible and the safety bars are in the wrong place for a rack deadlift... and a regular deadlift is blocked too.

I'm one of the nicest guys around and I have flawless gym etiquette (spelling)..Plus I don't get bullied but I seem to draw a certain amount of negative attention from the other lifters.

will do !

hey dipsh!t, when I use a power rack I don't use safety bars because I have a spotter. if your using safety bars you probably squat light weight on your own without any spotter.

Not Once has safety bars done anything for me. The only time I went down without control my spotter stepped in and brought me back up. It allowed me to keep going where I left off and push my limits.

p.s. and when i say i don't use safety bars I mean I set them lower than i squat allowing me to do full squats everytime. now if i pass out and fall flat then the safety bars will help me out but not if i get stuck doing reps.

Lol this has happened to me a bit(I think). When I was a newbie I used to see this guy at my university gym who used to give me weird looks when he saw me deadlifting and squatting and rowing and all other big exercises (well so did others). By the end of the summer I was lat-pulldowning and stuff more than he did. It was like almost a lil rivalary between me and him. Then skool starts and guess whos my TA for one of the lab courses :D. In a lab consisting of 8 marks, I couldn't get the time to do the last part, I got 7/8 from this guy, but my friend who had the EXACT same part remaining got 6/8 from him. Guess its good to go the gym.

Where can one buy the cage for this safety bar and does it have a bench function as well?

I love squats but at the moment I have to clean it from the floor.

I'm wanting to make my own gym in the garage but only want to use a portion of the garage for my workout gym.

i've never understood the appeal (to me they've always just looked like extra padding) but this guy swears by 'em:
