Diet and excercise might help a little, but it won't make you clear. I think onyx grew out of it. I used to have a buncha zits when I was 12-13... It lessened and now it's a whole lot less. 1 zit every once in a while. Just be patient, wash your face with something that will help eliminate the oil and use some bonzoyl peroxide 5% (Neutragena on the spot treatment) Most people grow out of acne. A lot of people outgrow it when they turn 18. Some live with it all their life.

When i was in middle school, and even as early as 5th grade, I had acne like a mother f*cker. Any given day i had about 10-15 good sized pimples, on one side of my face. After 8th grade, I got sick of it. Took accutane. By the time my freshma year started, after taking accutane sparingly, and not really according to "plan", my acne had improved BIG time. I still had it pretty bad on my back, but not so bad on my face. This summer I started another treatment (17 now) and my back is clearing up like magic. My face, has one or two noticeable ones here and there, but nothing too bad.

Techincally I'm not "outgrowing it", but I am getting rid of it.

Take lots of vitamins (+ zinc) and drink lots of water. Shower sweat off as soon as possible (that could be a huge factor. Use salycilic-acid body wash once or twice a day, and cake benzoyl-peroxide (like clearasil) at night on spots that show up. I tried TONS of stuff including prescriptions for years, and that's what finally did it. Stopped drinking milk helped too.

My dad had it until his late 20s/early 30s. It gradually went away, though not all at once. I seem to of inherited that gene, but I'm trying to break the cycle now with a laser procedure and I think I'm seeing some results.

17 is a normal age to have acne. You don't even get to complain about it until you're at least 20 :p

I started to really get acne when I was in 9th grade, and 14. Then I went to a dermatologist and controlled it for 2 years. Now I'm 16, and every now and then I might get a zit. Other than that dude, drink water, have your vitamins, and get a soft cloth to wipe off your oils twice a day. If it's worse than that, there's a whole regimen on

http://www.acne.org/

If it's worse than mild, go see a dermatologist, because it could scar you for life.

I was going to post this a few replies ago, but since the trend continues:

Watch what you eat. Even starving people don't have acne, and there's a reason why. Could be milk, could be chocolate, could be anything. Figure it out.

I had acne. It cleared up. Not sure whether I grew out of it, got rid of it, or both...Here's what I did, and boy did I spend alot of time thinking about it...

1. Watch what you eat - generally bad food/greasy food affects acne.

2. Exercise - if you exercise/sweat, you tend to cleans the pores more often.

3. Take a multivitamin - this provides your body with the weapons it needs to fight the acne.

4. Take Zinc pills - zinc reduces the production of sebum, which leads to acne.

5. DON'T touch your face - seriously, this does NOT help in the short run or long run.

Incase you don't see the trend, get healthy, and take zinc.

Yup, like I said, I really think the zinc helped with my acne.

Imagine, a world without zinc! http://www.livejournal.com/userpic/33631685/3802397

I had horrible acne till I was 18. Then I went on Accutane. It worked incredibly well, my acne started clearing up in 2 weeks.

However, while I was on it, my lips got horribly chapped. It looked gross, like I had some kind of disease or something. My lips were so chapped that I stopped taking it before I was supposed to, even though the dermatologist told me not too, I just couldn't stand it anymore. My acne hasn't come back yet though. When some of my friends who hadn't seen me in a year saw my face, they were amazed.

Is there anyway to get the 50 mg of zinc to help w/ acne without taking zinc pills? Like are there any natural foods I can eat a lot of that contain tons of zinc?

Do a search. There was just a thread about zinc not too long ago.

Or you could take 5 minutes and look on google...
