Hairloss..Hairloss.. I am 16..

Man.. I don't know what to say really..I am 16, and am receding, thinning, everything. One thing, I know I am doing all this for fact, I don't need it explained to me that this is natural, or that I don't have it.

Man, I just don't know what to do. Three months ago, I was examiningthe top of my scalp, and I noticed I had slight thinning on the left side of the crown area( I had my head shaved). So, I thought it was not a big deal, fast forward 3 months, and I look in the same mirror, but now I see that thinning has now occured on my left side, right side(of the crown), and almost all the way to my hairline.ARGH. Not only that, but it is occurring all on my crown, and my hairline is turning to ****. It's not total **** as of now, but you could probably fit in two "ww" s. Not perfectly, but I think you know what i mean.

arg,,,I am 16,,, I have looked at hair genetics, my mom's father was basically bald, both of my mom's brothers are basicallu bald, she has ok hair, and my father's side has pretty good hair. My father is suffering from normal male pattern baldness, and I would go so far as to say that if he shaved his head, mine, in probably 2 months, will look just like his, ARGH.

I thank my lucky stars that I found this site, or I would probably be crying. I put odds at 50/50 that I HONESTLY COULD BE BALD IN ONE YEAR. NO, NOT A JOKE, I COULD BE BALD IN ONE YEAR.

But anyways, I want your guy's advice. I am thinking of just totally shaving my head, and saying "fck it". I just don't know what to do. The mirror I used was close up, so my hair looks half decent from anyone's perspective, but soon, this will not be the case. Do I shave it all off and not care?

I am not buying pills or any of that crap, by the way. Please, any opinions, story's, ANYTHING!!!

P.S.,,,anyone know anyone bald before 18>?

Hit the gym and get swoll. Jakked, cut, bald, and CONFIDENT = chicks will get wet when they see you.

are you black/white/..? cause if you were black it wouldnt really be a problem...I think on some white guys a baldhead wouldnt look too good though (especially in their teens). Havent read the whole thing but have u been to a doctor yet?

I am white. I haven't seen a doc, and don't plan to(what would that solve)? I am working on getting built though

Sorry I didnt read the post carefully the first time. U said that your moms brothers/father or something were basically bald...maybe that explains why your hair is thinning, but

either you're kinda fooling yourself and exaggerating though its not half as bad as u think it is/will be in a year or so (youre probably sayin hell no im not, but sometimes it just happens that ppl think they're really fat though they r actually pretty lean or how people think their nose is the biggest in the whole world tho its just a lil bigger than the average one.....) or you're moms da, etc. were bald at your age too.....Its really hard believe that somebody is bald at 16/17 though ?! Maybe they were though...but if they werent and you're not exagerrating seeing a doctor might help..maybe somethings wrong with u or whateva (though I dont really think so)

Maybe your hair would still look good if u just kept it (really) short without shaving it all of that soon? Though shaving it all off is definetly an option...actually looks really good on some guys, (might just come across a lil strange at your young age though)

I think thats bull****..I use gel (not much though), but I know a lot of people who do too and I never saw anybodys hair fall out. I know somebody who used like lots of gel and several other things he put in his hair...like a **** load of it and well his hair look kinda crazy and messed up or something after doing that for a couple of year, but after he cut it off and had really short hair and so on his hair looked perfectly normal again. If you dont put a ****load of it in your hair I dont think itll affect your hairstyle though.

There may be an undiagnosed medical condition, such as thyroid disease, which can cause hair-loss.

My brother went bald at about 16, mine didn't kick in until my early 20s but it still sucks.

Anyway here's what I would advise:

1)See a doctor to make sure its MBP

2)If it is MPB, you can try Propecia which is the only medically proven drug to slow down hairloss (and even reverse it in rare cases). Only drawback is that it may not work for you and it costs $100 a month, but if you really want to try all your options its worth the risk IMO.

3)If you don't want to try Propecia or it doesn't work for you, shave your head. You may want to buzz cut it until you've lost a significant amount, as the stubble will create a shadow effect on your scalp and it won't be so damn shiny. If you want to "bic it" and shave it down to the skin then consider going to a tanning salon if you're skin is super-white. After the first session you should retain a normal skin color on your scalp assuming you keep it shaved.

If you dont want to try any medications or "miracle treatments", shave it and hit the gym.

ANd yes, you can be bald at 16.

I knew a few kids who were fully bald by the time they graduated High School at 18.

It sucked, but that's how it worked. Some guys are lucky and MPB does not kick in until the thirties or forties. Some guys it's in the mid twenties. ANd others, it kicks in while they are still in high school.

Just remember though, while your still young, that balding older look can work for obtaining older chics and getting into bars and clubs while your underage.

If you can't help it, try to shave it and get a tan so you're not white as snow. It looks good on most men, as long as they're not too skinny I think. Still sucks dude, I know soemone else who started losing ****loads of hair at the age of 16. Don't let it get you down dude.

Thanks for the positive replies guys. I'm lucky I'm not too white, so decent there, and I ama bit skinny for my height, but I'm getting bigger, so shouldn't be huge problem if my hair gets worse. It sucks, but maybe it'll stop... Thanks again for the positive feedback.
