So you can call me a newbie on this forum and on this things, but I prefer to call myself "a beginner with talent"... You pick up whatever you like.

So I made this thread cuz i dont know to go to the gym or i could to the same sh1t at home. I REALLY dont whant to go to the gym so if there are some workouts - id like to know about them. I'm not sure how do you say it in eng but i do standard workout like the one in which u practice yours stomach muscles (you know up and down) and the one in which you build up your arm muscles (like in the army...) Can they replace gym? Also one more question - how do I build up my chest muscles? Not my stomach muscles but really chest (you know where your nipples are - that part)

Sry, I usually speak english pretty well but I really don't know how to say these words...

do you mean crunches and pushups? Those are defiantly not substitutes for the gym... Almost all gyms have the basic stuff an amateur lifter needs. I'm guessing you want to bulk up?

Every time I see something like this I cringe.. or people saying "oooh, but I don't want to be big and bulky" .. do you all truly believe that it's gonna happen overnight? That you're gonna wake up twice the size you were yesterday?

Gah..

Why do people neglect thier legs? Do you guys realize how much mass you can put on yuor overall body with adding squats into your routine?

People instantly assume that thier legs are fine because they are much bigger than thier arms. Thats how it's suppose to be!!!!!!!!

I was at the gym with my buddy today and we saw this 5 foot 6 dude at the gym. His arms dwarfed his legs. He was absolutely ridiculous looking. He walked like a knuckle dragger.

i know the importance of squats, but i don't wanna do them, since i feel they could mess up my back. i used to do them but i stopped, because my spine was in total pain everytime

Two words: PROPER FORM.

If you're hurting (as opposed to aching) then you're doing something wrong.

Incidentally, you don't have to ONLY squat for your legs. Leg press and hack squats are perfectly acceptable alternatives if you can't/won't squat - they won't give the same results overall but they'll work your legs just fine.

Don't always be the one putting yourself out for her. Don't always be the one putting all the effort and work into the relationship. Let her, and expect her, to treat you as well as you treat her, and to improve the quality of your life.

it's not about form, it's that my bones are very light and exposed to damaging, so it's really easy for me to damage them, that's why squats always hurt my spine

I tried body building for over 11 years, I'm 25 now, and never got heavier than 160, im nowfluctuating between 140-154.

I realised that the guys you see in M&F, Flex etc are using hormonal affecting drugs. Which IMO are very bad news.

I also realised that women dont like the bodybuilder physique but prefer the soccer /boxing physique (in england anyway) but it looks more natural and real.

Anyway, I scrapped my weight workouts and began doing weightless workouts with proper form and everthing has changed.

Bear in mind that ever rep i do i use a metronome and take 4 seconds up and 4 seconds down. My chest and back have grown more than ever with press-ups and pull ups(close grip palms facing), and my legs are huge with king deadlifts and sissy squats. To add to this my physique is balanced and not bulky.

I also took up boxing and yoga, which have helped tremendously with posture and balance.

Always put form first and concentrate on working the muscle, do one set to failure for each major body part.

Hope this helps.

lol, if you have an improper diet, you wont get big! i honestly doubt your diet was perfect at 14 when you first started working out and still lived with your parents.

weights don't make your muscles big, the food you eat does. if you eat improperly and don't give your muscles the nutrients and macro nutrients they need to grow, what do you expect them to grow from? air?

weight training simply makes your muscles want to feed and grow. if you don't feed them, they don't grow.

also, out of those 11 years, how many workouts have you missed? what was the longest time you took away from the gym while you were working out?

how did you workout? free weights or machines? what rep range? what splits?

I realised that the guys you see in M&F, Flex etc are using hormonal affecting drugs. Which IMO are very bad news.
Pros DO use drugs. But there are many guys who are very well built and are all natural. Look at the natural bodybuilding competitions where they test the sh!t out of the competitors.

I appreciate the natural side of the sport, I just found it wasn't for me and I was more into Boxing, Yoga, Climbing etc.

I followed everything very closely, I ate correctly, 1g protein per lb of bodyweight.

I just got sick of all the eating and felt tired always due to heavy compound movements. I always felt sluggish.

If this is for you then great, I just found out I was better suited to other sports. I do respect the non drug users out there though. Especially Don Lemmon, whose dietary info is the best in the business.

I think if you a Vin Diesel type build then you'll do well, I'm more James Dean, Ed Norton. So I switched to other sports and now I feel a lot better and more energetic.

1g is not enough man (lol, warboss is gonna have a field day when he finds this thread, sigh), 1.3-1.5g is the ideal, and some people will even tell you to go up to 2g.

it's not just in protein tho, you need a proper carb intake to build muscle, my quote from a diff thread

i.) high blood sugar level stimulates pancreas to start producing insulin. Insulin in return stimulates certain cell recepotors to absorb more nutrients such as protein. This is one of the reasons why we put carbs (whether they be dextrose, fructose or whatever) into our post-workout protein shakes. However, we should always be doing this. With every protein meal, we should include enough carbs (both simple and complex) to always have high insulin in our body, and make our protein absorbtion function at 200% efficiency.

ii.) Carbs also convert to glycogen. Glycogen is the primary creator of your body's MAIN energy source: Adenosine Tri-Phosphate (ATP). If you are eating low carb, your ATP levels will be low, and as a result you will have weaker workouts then you would if you ate the proper amount of carbs. If you want to avoid plateaus, you need high storages of Glycogen in your body!

iii.) 1 GRAM OF GLYCOGEN creates 2.7 GRAMS of WATER inside your muscle. So you are gaining 3.7 grams of muscle mass per 1g of glycogen. Now you will say "BUT MIND, THAT'S WATER", yes it is! Water however INCREASES THE VOLUME of the cell, which in turn CREATES MORE SPACE and allows the muscle to ABSORB PROTEIN and micronutrients in HIGH AMOUNTS.

Dude that's all great. Don't get all scientific on me!

I rekon if I guy wants to quickly boost his confidence, find yourself a hardcore boxing gym and go there long enough so you can begin sparring.

You stop thinking too much, you feel rather than think, Your nervous system lights up like a christmas tree and you get used to this feeling of primordial power.

Tyler talks about how approaching girls is just like boxing, you've literaly just gotta walk into that warzone of fear and act on instict.

My neighbour hit a dog with his car yesterday, I'm gonna go lick the bumper, there might some trace protein there.
