Hey, I've started getting a bit of a gut, "beer belly" or however you americans might say it. I need to lose it in the next few weeks while i'm away from University. I'm thinking of going running regularly and maybe some sit ups too to help trim it down.

Would this work and if so how often would I need to go running and do the sit ups? Daily?

Starts with nutrition first mate!! and setting some rules for yourself, less drinking more water, less junk food more protein and vegetables.

Situps won't do ****. I like doing sprints not "running" per say. Hit up a gym 4-5 times a week, do sprints once a week and do one day of some circuit type of work be it body weight or with some light weights. Watch what you eat, drink tea, load up on plenty of protein/vegetables and a little fruit and watch yourself change dramatically in the next few months.

BTW my g/f does crunches, her diet is **** and I enjoy making fun of her. She's not fat by any means, yet she never listens to me and I see her putting on weight fast once past her golden years of being able to do and eat whatever and get away with it.

Carb up in the morning till mid day then after 4-5pm dont eat ANY carbs..till the next day and dont eat after 8-9pm.

Keep metabolism up with frequent meals and stay ina calorie deficit (burn more calories then you eat)

As others have said, do cardio 4-5 times a week. Preferably the elliptical. Do this before your first meal of the day.

Other than that, just eat healthy. For most people this will get them to start losing weight and/or where they want to be. If you want to be really dedicated you can plan your meals out, as the previous poster has suggested. What he is referring to is called carb cycling, btw, if you want to look up more info about it online.

I CBA to upload a pic right now. My diet is pretty standard for a 24yr old student. I'm not doing any weightlifting at all and have no real plan. Only regular exercise I do is play sport quite frequently during the week.

My shape isn't too bad, i'm pretty fit but just spotted this little beer belly coming along because I've finished uni for the summer and have lost my regular sport for a few months now.

I'll work on my diet and go running every other day. I don't want to join a gym, especially one round here as i'm not here for long, so is there anything I could do at home to work out? Like what circuits would you reccomend etc?

Thanks.

Dieting is usually considered more of a woman thing. When you lift, perform supersets in which you alternate between sets of lower-body and upper-body exercises.Soda, pop, sweetened carbonated beverage however you say it, it still spells empty calories.

?

Is it? And what are supersets going to do for him? Burning him out faster so that he reaches a plateau as soon as possible? Does it burn more calories than the jump rope or sprints?

Doing antagonist sets is actually a very effective way of hitting your muscles like say pairing chest and back work with each other, keeping a good pace. Also bi and tri work....hamstring and Quad work.
