What are some popular guitar songs girls like? I know one is called "Kiss Me" or something like that.

If any of you have sisters, give me your feedback. Also, penkitten, Wyld and Luv please speak up. Thank you in advance.

It depends on their taste in music. In general ( and very general) most girls don't like what I would call "Guitar Music" which would heavily distorted rock like Metalica, AC/DC, Butthole Surfers, Nugent, Korn. Perfect Circle, Alice in Chains, etc. They most likely would prefer stuff by the following guitar orieted artists:

Santana (the last two albums especially)
Maroon 5
Three Doors Down
Cheap Trick
Nirvana (for those who like to rock out)
Beatles
Prince
Fleetwood Mac

Basically groups that are more songwriter oriented rather player oriented.

Now Girls who do rock out seem to like the following ( It depends on age of course):

Guns and Roses
Alice in Chains (gotta mention them again)
Blink 182 (and all that new Pop Punk Stuff)
Perfect Circle
Sleater Kinney ( but you probably can't date them)
Bon Jovi

I think you get the idea

Some good acoustic guitar songs that girls will love to hear you play, but aren't "girly" songs:

- Blackbird, The Beatles
- Over the Hills and Far Away, Led Zeppelin
- The General, Dispatch
- Crash, Dave Matthews Band
- Wish You Were Here, Pink Floyd
- anything by Jack Johnson

Notice I haven't posted in a few days. Sudden withdrawl rarely succeeds. I stopped posting in all forums except this one, tips, and H&F. Then, it's just H&F.

Do you really want me out that bad?

Thanks for the song tips. I'll start working on it.

Play music you like. If girls are into you, they'll listen to whatever you're rocking :)

see i gotta agree alot

if you are not into what you are playing it totally shows.

you gotta be up there having a good time for the chicks to notice.

as for myself, i like a variety of stuff , in every catergary.

i learned to play the courus to nothing else matters (metallica) and that was easy.

i always wanted to learn how to play she talks to angels.(black crows)

Thanks for the suggestions. Spare me the righteousness lecture about my post.

I'm doing this for myself, but I have no clue where to start. That is all. I looked at Metallica - One and I can play that now. Like at least the first part I can get down pretty well. I'm going to start off slow. Then maybe move onto some harder songs like a few you mentioned.

I'm a huge Pink Floyd fan and when i tried picking up and acoustic to play some songs (i'm very amatuer) it was the most complicated fingerwork i've ever seen. David Gilmour's fingerwork is just so.....i dunno....complicated for lack of a better word...for a chord he'll do something like

-------
-------
---3---
---3---
---2---
---3---
Im twisting a turning my fingers for 10 seconds to hit this note and he'll play this for half a note and move on to another complicated chord flawlessly....I think i got this from "Green is the Colour", i can't be bothered to look up the actual tabs....My favorite acoustic piece, which was the first song I learned to play is "Is there anybody out there"

For my fellow guitar players, I highly recommend Guitarport!

It's an awesome practice tool (I don't do the online lessons yet), I just love the amp modeling and jamming along with tracks withouth waking the neighbors through my headphone and laptop.

Plus you can record to your laptop on it.

I will have to post a riff or two with some different tones for you.

Yeah, I got it a couple days after it came out. I like it a little more each time I listen to it. I still like his first two albums a little more, but In Between Dreams is still pretty damn good.

You know, if you can play and sing Whatsername off Green Day's latest album I bet girls would care :)

It's extremely easy to play. The chord progressions are very easy and the structure of the song isn't too complex either. If you know how to do power chords proficiently you'll get it easily.

Lots of U2 songs are fun to play on an acoustic and if you have a decent voice and can nail some higher notes, these will sound awesome!

Check out I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, Bad, Running To Stand Still, One, Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses, Stay, Where The Streets Have No Name, Staring At The Sun, Walk On, Wild Honey, and Sometimes You Cant Make It On Your Own. I'm always jamming on a few of these and they're real easy to play and turn into acoustic.
