hey guys, hope you're all taking it easy

Anyway, it's my Grandfathers 80th birthday and our it's looking to be pretty big, Dad wants to make it something special.

TLDR, turns out dad wants me to play a guitar song.

I play the acoustic guitar, i know all the chords, can play then easily but have no theory or know each note on the fretboard, so consider me your average dorm room guitar guy.

I need help finding a song that isn't too hard to play, something i can sing (I love MUSE and radiohead), and is appropriate. needless to say, This little project is being a major pain, would appreciate some help, really, really need it.

Cheers,

Are you singing or just playing guitar?

That's a pretty odd request. Does your grandpa like any somewhat modern music you can learn (The Beatles are always good in situations like this). Mine wouldn't know who the fvck The Beatles even are so I'd have to do a Sinatra song or something on guitar so he'd recognize it.

Maybe a Bob Dylan song? The Who? Megadeth? ;)

Standing At The Crossroads
Yesterdays Songs by Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver. He'll love it. You can listen to it on Amazon.com. It's in G. Has an Am, Em and a Bm in but pretty simple.

Play him a Johnny Cash song. They are very easy, and your Grandpa probably knows the words to all of them. Google the song name with 'Tablature' if you cant figure out the chords.

Good thinking. Johnny Cash would probably be perfect to serenade a grandfather with.
