Anyone use this stuff? I'm fairly pale and I hate it. I tanned over the summer, but it was a lot of time and a lot of money for what was basically a mild tan that disappeared a couple weeks after I stopped. Plus ya know, the whole melanoma thing. I think it's given me a couple new moles too.

The instant tanning spray looks like crap, always does. But last year my sister tried one of those newer "gradual tan" lotions and it looked much much more natural. Only thing is I noticed after a little while that it looked like it was peeling off of her wrists, and I assume it did everywhere else. Does that really happen with this stuff? I figured it would just fade away. Also, are the gradual-tan sprays pretty much the same as the lotions?

you can search the net for comparisons, like here...

http://www.sunless.com/review/

The active ingredient in most sunless tanning products is dihydroxyacetone (DHA). DHA is the only color additive approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in sunless tanning products.

When applied to your skin, DHA reacts with dead cells in the outermost layer of skin (stratum corneum) to temporarily darken the skin's appearance. The coloring doesn't wash off, but it gradually fades as the dead skin cells slough off. In most cases, the color is completely gone after five to seven days.

there's your answer to why it peels. Sometimes its the stuff as well if it is applied too thick.

Thanks. So is the only difference between instant and gradual sunless tan the concentration of DHA? There seems to be a distinct difference between the results of the two.

I'm sure that's what it boils down too. The concentration in each application. I haven't looked at the back of one lately, but the higher the ingredient on your facts panel, that means the more of it. So if its closer to the top, it will be more in that lotion/spray/oil than others.
