You all should try it for the big multijoint exercises: Deadlift, Squat, Bench/Incline Press.
5 sets of 10 minimum reps.
4 warm up sets, building up weight that you can do easily. The 4th set should be challenging, but not too hard.
5th set is where the rubber meets the road. Balls to the wall, as many times as possible, 12-15 maximum.
He lifts heavy, but for reps. If he can't do 10, he doesn't do it. His results speak for themselves. He's 41, won 8 Olympias, never had a serious injury.
Example squat routine:
10 reps x 135 lbs.
10 reps x 225 lbs.
10 reps x 315 lbs.
10 reps x 405 lbs. - last warm up set
