So I talked to this random girl Thursday on campus, just a little small talk, and she looked pretty good. The short conversation went smoothly and she seemed interested so I told her she seemed like a pretty cool girl and maybe we could go out some time and got her number. Called tonight, didn't expect her to answer and was ready to leave a message. A girl picks up...:

Girl: Hello?
Me: What's up, it's *me*, is this *her*?
Girl: No, it's not *her*
Me: Well, do you know a *her*?
Girl: Yeah, I do, but this isn't *her*. You said your name was *me*? I can tell her you called.
Me: I must have a wrong number...
Girl: No, you don't have a wrong number.
Me: Well, why would she give me your number?
Girl: I don't know, I'll tell her you called though.
Me: Alright, thanks, bye.
Girl: Bye.

Well, I deleted the number she gave me, because It's obvious she gave me a wrong number on purpose, but at the same time that phone conversation confuses the f*ck outta me. If a b!tch isn't interested just tell me you have a boyfriend like a normal girl, and if you're gonna give me a wrong number, why the hell would you give me your friends number, some kind of cruel joke? Totally mindf*cked on why someone would do this, and no, I don't expect a call from this chick, just saying this is confusing as f*ck. The only reason I'm posting this is because of the situation. If she had given me a totally wrong number and some black guy named Bubba picked up and said "no I don't know a *her*," I wouldn't have posted this.

So you got a wrong number, what's the big deal? Move on and find another girl who's willing to give you the right number.

Just posted it because I've never had a "prank" played on me in this manner.

When the number was exchanged, the area code was included, yes?

next time you should ask her to give you her address so if you ever get the wrong number. You can always show up at her door with chocolate and flowers.

Peace and Quiet

If you currently have too many women chasing you, calling you, harassing you, knocking on your door at 2 o'clock in the morning... then I have the simple solution for you.

Just read my free ebook 22 Rules for Massive Success With Women and do the opposite of what I recommend.

This will quickly drive all women away from you.

And you will be able to relax and to live your life in peace and quiet.

Ever thought to ask if the girl who picked up the phone was a roommate?

There are several possible reasons why the number could be correct but somebody else picked up the phone.

It wasn't the wrong # she explicitly said it's the right #.
Whatever the deal is, the ball is in her court and I'm not going to hold my breath. It just struck me as weird that her "friend" would pick up her cell phone and talk to me as if I had the right number, but at the same time had the wrong number.

Maybe it was a sorority house or an apartment phone?

The group residence is a possibility. The way the girl answering the phone responded was ambiguous whether or not that was the case. I wouldn't hold my breath though. This is why I always text them on the spot or do the dropped call gimmick.

"Here, I'll text you really quick so you have my number. Reply with something fun." It's mean to be said it in an upbeat and somewhat playful manner.

Took another shot and called again just so I could say I gave it "two strikes." No answer, and was ready to leave a message but the message service on her phone said, "I'm sorry, but this users mailbox has not yet been set up," LOL! Can't say I didn't try!

Deleted the number.

you sir are an idiot
Don't know any more story than what was posted, but I don't see the need for the insult, especially if you aren't going to post the reason for it. I would say that the OP didn't need to call again, because something seemed fishy in the first place and if she was interested she would have called/text messaged back, but other than that I don't see what he did that warrants being called an idiot.

Judge nismo is not surprised that girls are coming up with many more creative ways to reject men! The fact is, she's just not that into you. IDK if it's a sorority house/dorm room etc., but I wouldn't get my hopes up high. Just move on to chicks who'll give you their right # and call the # from your cell phone the minute you get it. If she was interested, she would've called back. This prank is confusing. Women are confusing. Count this as a loss and get on with your life. That's my ruling.

Case closed.

i didnt call him an idiot because he called back i was calling him an idiot for not realising its obviously a house share number due to the fact that there was an area code? secondly hes assuming its a wrong number even though the girl on the phone is telling him its the right number, thirdly he calls back and theres no answer and straight away he nexts? premature nextulation tbh

then again screw it all why did she not give u her direct mobile number

I am betting it was the same girl but she just got a buyer remorse. Chunk that number.

Ultimately it comes down to this - a woman who WANTS to see you again will make sure that you can reach her easily. She will make an effort to clear the path for you to advance on her.
IF you detect, or suspect that she is constructing obstacles, then decode that as low interest level.
Obstructive or bewildering behavior on her part is a message in itself -it says ," I'm not really interested."

That kind of behavior by a woman is not a "test" for you to pass on your way to the cookie( as some here would like to believe ).. rather it is retreating and distancing behavior by a woman who really does not want to see you again.

Take the hint, don't waste your time and go hunting other ducks.

I would have kept the number and tried again, which is what you did. If she girl who picked up was her friend you could have shot two birds with one stone (one at the very least). You wouldn't believe the hook up stories I have heard about, and witnessed myself especially in college. If there's no response though, then move right on to the next and keep up your game!
