Took it up about 3 years ago, finally got a lesson this year. All that did was show me how good I COULD be at times. Rarely do I hit the same from day to day. Rarely do I have the same problems day in day out. It pisses me off to no fvcking end. I guess you just have to hit balls every friggin' day to get good at it.

After three years and LEGITIMATE scoring, I'm still a 20 handicap. Anger surely does not help when you're on the course. I just don't see why it's so hard to hit a stationary little ball.

Forget about obtaining consistency that you will be happy with. Just when you seem to have it down, something unidentifiable changes in your swing and you're back to trying to figure out a way to correct for it. I think that very few people obtain consistency, or at least it takes lots of years.

I just played a round tonight and I was absolutely terriible, yet last week I had my best round ever. I seem to have a way to detach my emotions from the game so when I have a bad round I'm unaffected. There's always that one great shot that brings us back for more, eh?

That's the damnable misery of it.

I live in a golf community so I go and hit balls pretty regularly. I've gotten better, but the people I play with are all the higher-ups in my company who've been playing for decades and just bury me. I've learned that when I go out and play solo I tend to play better and learn more because the pressure to perform is off, but when I'm playing with others I tend to choke more. Play solo for a while and see if that helps.

^^ I too have found that when I play solo I play a lot better. Also when I get into a regular routine of playing I improve.
