GF lost dog

Ho-kay, this sounds a little stupid but i 'm worried anyway. My gf is in travel and her dog died two days ago. The (other) bad thing is that was i who gave the bad news, since there's no one left who could do it. She cried a lot in the phone and antecipated her back in 5 days. She was having fun there, but now she is devastaded. Damn.

How bad is the situation? I read somewhere here that i could be associated with negative feelings, but i was the only one who could say that. And if i lied, things could be worse. Any thoughts?

You should have lied and then told her when she got back so you wouldn't ruin her trip.

Here is what to do...
Get the dog embalmed in a sleeping position. When she comes back, say you were just joking about the pet dying and show her the dog. Move it around the house occasionally when she isn't looking so she thinks it's still alive.

If she figures out the ruse, at least she will have an embalmed Fluffy as a consolation present to snuggle with after she dumps you.

HAHAHAHAH. this is a first. you were dumb to ruin her trip. NEVER BE THE BEARER OF BAD NEWS. you should have waited and then gotten someone else to break the news to her. the person who delivers the news is always associated with the hurt.

You did not kill the dog (at least, I assume not)
You are not at fault...It is unlikely she will blame you unless she is unhinged

-Maybe, but I don't think it matters that much. She is already your gf, right? So if she cares about you even in the slightest, this shouldn't be a problem. Once she is over her grief, it's not like every time she sees you she is going to be reminded of THE DAY YOU TOLD HER FLUFFY DIED AND HOW DEPRESSED SHE WAS AND NOW SHE HATES YOU WITH EVERY LAST VESTIGE OF HER SOUL.

Just don't bring up her loss any more than you have to and move on.

Keep with the honesty streak when she gets back. She'll look sad when she first comes back to her place and the dog isn't there [be comforting, hold her]... so as soon as that lonelyness hits her, and shes done packing take her to the spca and find her an adorable new puppy. Simple as that.

The feelings will be associated with you, if you she's seeing/hearing/thinking of you while those feelings occur.

Ever heard of the principle "stay away when she's crying, move in when she's laughing" ?



I'd just dump the dog into the garbage bin and told her he ran away.

Less stuff to deal with overall and it won't hurt the girlfriend so much
