Eh... You could have handled it much better.

"That's cool, I understand."

And simply moved on...

OH Wow.

Dude if only 50% of the people seeking help here could learn this from you, we can save up on alot on database space and bandwidth space.

In conclusion: You handled it perfectly.

Now the really popular advise will be No Contact. Yes this has been proven and it works. No matter if you want to get her back, or you want to get back at her, in both ways initial no contact. If you are lost just follow this advise you will be fine.

However, if you are not affected by it you can be polite but indifferent. This is not a popular method but works just as well. Main thing being you are moving on and your attention is now for other things so if she wants to come into your life again in the future it is now her turn to work hard for it.

Hope it helps. =)

EDIT: Ok now I missed out something. Your reply to her was too long. If you could just write

" yeah i think your right. we make better friends than a couple. no hard feelings
That will be the best.

Yeah, you did good. Like RFish said, your response wasn't word perfect, but we're humans, nothing ever is :)

You've turned the tables on her and agreed that you shouldn't be together anymore. This sets you up for possibly fvcking her in the future, and she'll probably be wondering why you don't seem particularly bothered. Best way to handle a sh1tty situation.

Get back in the game.

Do not be too easy. If you are too easy to get, she will not want you. If you are too easy to keep, she will lose interest in you. If you are too easy to control, she will not respect you.
