Well, everyday at wrestling we always run and I seem to run out of breath quickly. I'll be going fine and then sometime around my 8th lap, I get a muscle cramp in my stomach and suddenly its like I'm just completely out of breath and I have to stop myself to breath, I still have the energy to run and all, but I'm just out of breath. This happened again when we were running hard laps, I ran the first two set of laps fine, then on the second set of two laps, I was going great, I was pushing myself hard, then all of a sudden, I feel these muscles in my stomach lock up and then it's like, I'm just completely out of breath and no matter how much I want to go on, I've just GOT to stop for air, like I want to go on, but I'm out of breath. My coach tells me that I'm just out of shape and I'm going to take his word. The question is, how do I get in-shape? He tells me that instead of running as fast as I can, as long as I can, to just run at my own pace and not worry about everyone else, but I don't understand how this helps though, how will doing this make me able to go faster, without losing breath, like everyone else on the team? I'm not understanding coaches logic. This happened a lot last year on the track team too, I just don't see how those distance runners can go so long without losing their breath, I mean, at anaerobic things like sprinting I'm good, but at aerobic things like distance, I just can't go that long without running out of breath.

Your coach has the right idea.

You can't run before you can walk.

Start small, go at your own pace consistently, and over time you'll get better and be able to keep up with everyone else.

Don't sweat it, it's no biggie, just be patient. Remember to rest well.

Do you feel strong stinging pain on one side of the body - slightly below the chest (either left on right side)?

Nope, not that. It's not that bad. If I had asthma I think my doctor would of told me or one of my family members.
