Provided that I'm not gonna workout for many months, I'd like to know if there's some way I can gain 10 lbs, without it being just fat. I'm still pretty small (5'9 and 155 lbs), is it possible if I eat tons of food and smash myself with cardio?

No, you can't. You need to apply resistance to the muscle in order for it to grow.

that sounds dumb

through excessive cardio, you're going to burn whatever you've taken in, resulting in weight loss instead of weight gain...common sense!

The fact is that most big people I know (not necessarily huge, but jock-wise big) never lifted in their life, they just ate tons of food and did lots of sports and exercise.

most sportsmen do weight training as part of their regime.

notice most of the college jocks eat like **** as well - their genetics and metabolism allow them that.

the only guys I've met who are huge without weight training are guys who work an extremely physical job like stonemasonry and to be in that line of work you need to have the genetics for it. (huge joints)

(bottom line: if you're not big without lifting weights, you won't ever be)

there's nothing to stop you improving your bodyfat, endurance and cardiovascular ability even if you're not working out. you can also rig up ghetto weights if you have the tools, this can help.

Thanks for the advice Warboss, but I can't lift ghetto weights either, because my wrists are fùcked up.

I'd like to clarify that our perceptions of huge are most likely really different. I'm talking about guys who are like 5'11 and 180 lbs with a 12% bodyfat... nothing exceptional, but definately better-looking and bigger than most folks with 12% bodyfat... Is that attainable through sports and body exercise without weights only?

Possibly, via great genetics. Realistically? No.

What's wrong with your wrists?

I hope you're not using that as an excuse because I had a wrist injury (slight tear of a ligament) myself and I'm still recovering from it, but most excersizes require minimal, if any, wrist involvement i.e. torque.

Dude... I saw a picture of a weightlifter WITH NO ARMS who was fvcking built.

Doing squats alone will net you 10lbs, now stop being a little girl and go work out
