Master Don Juan
Just a thought. I know this idea is likely not to be too widely accepted by the current member base of this forum, however now that I look back on my time here I can't think of anything momumental ever going on that forum but I can think of example after example of it being a conduit of negativity like Allen described the chat room to be.
Some of the topics discussed in Anything Else are very subjective and many people have strong opinions on them such as politics, religion, pro sports, etc. These discussions create more opportunities for DJ's to alienate each other rather than form healthy bonds and they should be discussed through some other medium other than this message board.
The frequency of spamming, flaming and trolling, and a host of other disturbances that detract from the quality of this site is also very high in that forum. Right now there is a topic in which a poster who was enough of an annoyance to this board to have been banned from it twice has now become the inspiration of a 50+ reply debate about him that is now causing personal attacks to be exchanged. One of the most poorly thought of people ever to grace this forum with a post has now effectively become one of the most powerful figures because of the way he has made certain people on this board behave. Although sarastic, there is ironic truth in that topic's title, "Da Man of the Board is Here" and it is sad.
I understand, Allen that people who have become accostumed to there being an Anything Else forum will not be happy with this idea should you chose to implement it, but the new members in the future will enjoy more on-topic focus and less negative static.
