Many of us are born ectomorphs. It's almost impossible for many us to gain weight - and with that gain muscle. So, we all get advice that says "eat more". Seems simple enough right? The more you eat, the bigger you get. Some people say "muscle isn't built in the gym, its built in the kitchen".
Others however would argue that "muscle is built during sleep", so you should get to bed on time. "Get more rest," they say. So many of us skinny/uninformed guys wonder, "so which is it?" "If I'm asleep, I can't eat." The problem is while both of these observations are true, there's more one part to the equation we must add. Sleeping and eating more are fine, if you're looking to get fat that is.
Unfortunately, that's what a lot of people do. They get fat so they can fill out their shirts, and not look so weak. Personally I'd rather be skinny with a little muscle (which I am) who can't fill out his shirts, than be an overgrown beast. But for a lot of people, just filling out a large shirt is enough.
We aren't like the rest though. We are Don Juans, players, PUAs. We've sought self-improvement for whatever reason, and are mastering the game of life and fine art of seduction. To maximize our success and minimize our rejections (as there is no such thing as failure), we must seek self-improvement in every area of our lives. We must achieve more than just dating out of our leagues. And so here we are, putting our bodies through Hell only to return bigger, stronger, and more powerful. What doesn't kill you, only makes you stronger. For there is plenty of time to rest when we're dead.
Now, for that equation. Sleep + Higher Calorie Intake + Exercise = Muscle Mass. It is necessary to remember muscle weights more than fat. So by bulking up, not only are you able to fill out that large shirt faster, but with less work as well. You get a better end result as well.
Now most of us have sleep and exercise covered. The Higher Calorie Intake is usually the problem. Personally, I don't believe in only eating healthy foods. If we can't enjoy the things we like in life, what's the point of it all? So, why not include that greasy, or sugary sweets we enjoy? Use it to your advantage. Use it as a reward for a weeks hard work, include it in your "diet" as carbohydrates intake (extra calories anyway), do what it takes to succeed.
Still having trouble consuming enough? No problem. Give my weight-gainer shake a try. All you need is your favorite nuts (I use honey-roasted peanuts; you might like salted cashews), 2 cups/containers (whatever the hell they're called) of your favorite regular (we are bulking up after-all; so don't use light) yogurt, and 2 cups of milk. To get the best taste, alternate between the nuts and yogurt in your blender. Then to top it off pour in two cups of milk. Alternatively, if you have protein powder top it off with a cup or two of that. This recipe makes 2-3 cups, and should contain 1000 kilo-calories, as well as around 40g of protein WITHOUT any added protein powder.
Now, you should have no excuses. Have one of these a day (I try to do two since I only need 2500 kilo-calories to gain weight) and using no more than 15 minutes of your day you've already consumed 1/3 (maybe 1/2) of what you need to put on a few pounds.
