general cutting question

Ill be done with my cutting cycle in 2 weeks and Im (finally) pretty satisfied with the results. I have another question though: Does it actually matter how much fat you eat if you're calorie deficit doesnt change? I mean lets say youre cutting on 2700 cals and eating under 40g of fat a day, could you also eat 80g of fat a day if you still took enough protein and still just 2700 cals (but less carbs obviously). Ive always read that on a low fat (bodybuilding) diet u should have a calorie deficit, eat little fat and high protein, but at the end of the day isnt all that counts the calorie deficit (and the protein to maintain your muscles)? or is nutritional fat more quickly transformed into bodyfat than the "average" carbohydrates ?

(Im not gonna change anything about my cutting diet during the last 2 weeks, cause ..if its broke dont fix it ;-) but Im wondering bout this)

oh and btw I know that the more fat u eat the harder it is to still have a caloric deficit because 1g fat has more cals than 1g carbs...

Calorie deficit isn't the only thing that matters. Energy is basically from fats and carbs - protein is crap when it comes to energy.


Also, you are supposed to be watching the carbs, not the fats. Fat gives u clogged veins and arteries, carbs gives u chub.

Just wondering about something seeing as ur about to stop ur cut up cycle, how on do u make sure u dont regain all the weight/fat within the time it took u to lose it, cause im really worried about that when i finish my cycle?????

Well u should still watch that u dont take in too many calories if ure going to bulk again (tho u definetly need to take in more calories than you burn if u wanna bulk, but lets say not more than +500 cals a day). I had done a cutting up program like a little over a year ago for 6 weeks and had regained the fat that I lost in those 6 weeks after a little over a year, but I have to say that I made too many big nutritional mistakes during that year. However if u eat properly I guess it should be enough to cut up for a month or so after every two years. Youll most likely regain a little fat if ure going to try to put on muscle, but if u dont make big nutritional mistakes that fat shouldnt be too much and ull only have to cut up again for a couple of weeks after 2 years or whateva....

Im not quite sure, but I think ure the guy whos (been) trying to lose more than just a little flab right? If thats you, Im feeling you but youre just being paranoid / overly cautious about regainig the weight (which most ppl would be in your situation). However it will take years to regain the fat you lost in a couple of weeks if ure gonna keep avoiding junk food and candy (tho theres nothing wrong with a pizza every now and then or even eating a meal at burger king as long as u dont do it too often ;-))

Not all fats are the same, not all protien is the same and not all carbs are the same! Ideally you don't want to cut out ANY of them completely. The trick is in knowing what kind of fats are good to have and what ratios to get them in. Saturated fats are usually the ones you hear about clogging up arteries and such, while the unsaturated (mono-unsaturated and poly-unsaturated) fats are the kinds you want more of when trying to keep/build muscle.

So does it matter how much fat you eat? Of course! Regardless of your caloric deficit you wouldn't want to have a diet that was 50% fat, 30% carbs and 20% protien for example. Stay in the 20-30% range and you should be fine.
