I have about an inch gap between my pecs and it's starting to look a lot more noticeable as I bulk up. How do I work my pecs so that the two muscles will meet and how long would it take?

I had the same thing too, but when I started doing Dumbell Flyes I started noticing a big difference in a fairly short amount of time.

Personally, I'm having trouble building up the nipple area of my pecs as bench presses, flyes nor dips do anything for me there.

Wax your chest maybe? Lol. Best thing to do is work the Inner and Lower pecs, with Dumbbell Flyes, Cable Crossovers and Decline lifts.

Heh. Thats pretty normal, if it was closer you'd look like you have a clevage.

Just do incline benching. Decline bench presses really arent all that productive, and when you start to lose muscle in your chest area, all that flat/decline bench you were doing to keep you nipples pointing straight now sags down.

Look at any good bodybuilder and you'll see all the muscle is at the top of the chest and the nips are pointing more downwards than anywhere.

Conclusion: bulk more.

flat dumbel press 3x8 (overall mass)
incline dumbel press 3x8 (upper chest, gives sticky out look)
weighted dips 3x8 (lower chest, rounds off the bottom)
flyes or cable crossovers 2x8 (pec/delt tie in, overall stretch)

superior routine hits the entire chest.

I had the same prob, arnold's encyclopedia of modern bodybuilding (must have book btw), gave me some good tips

for mid chest, when im doing flyes, and i bring them all the way to the top, i flex the chest muscle and cross my hands to contract the inner chest fully, been getting great results.

or when im doing cable crossovers, when i pull it in all the way, ill cross one hand over the other (alternate hands every rep) and then ill contract the muscle again.

With exercises like cable cross overs / flyes, amount of weight is not as important as form/range of motion/muscle contraction. when you do them, focus on every rep, no ballistics.

Your chest muscles probably don't attach the way you want so unless your chest is just underdeveloped you might be stuck with the gap no matter what.

Nah, if the chest grows in size, the pecs come closer together.

It's just a matter of time, this wont happen overnight, think in terms of months, even years. IMO, bodybuilding requires 3 things: determination, good nutrition, and patience.

A good chest would probably take 3-5 years.depending on your workouts and nutrition... with poor nutrition you won't get a decent size chest, just a small well defined one.

Yeah but not everybody's will have that perfect look where the pecs are touching with that awesome crese (SP?) right down the middle. Soem people will always have that giant gap.

ha ha... no it doesnt. Its a matter of muscle insertions. Chest muscles wont get closer. Its not a big deal really though. Check out fitness model dan deckerd and you will see that the gap doesnt really matter.

Odd you say that because I've definitely noticed a big improvement in the gap since I've started working out. Only problem is that I suppose it can be kinda more noticeable as my pecs get bigger, but I do believe that I can completely eradicate it by the end of the year if I work hard at it.
