So, say the western world is turned up side down by a massive economic depression, and men that had money now have nothing. How would the world of dating be different?

Hell if I know. I've always had nothing. I only got by on my cute smile and charm. I don't think much will change for me...for the ones with golddiggers and trophy wives...and rich social circle game...I feel for ya bros!

Resources for survival trumps all !!! The man with the most resources or able to acquire resources will be the most desirable.

1.) Wealth / Resources

2.) Resourcefulness (ability to create or generate resources)

3.) Strength (ability to protect resources)

4.) Looks (the better the looks the more likely a person has access to resources)

5.) Personality

will be the order of importance when it comes to getting women.

That might answer my question. Thanks.

Although the media loves to bombard us with stories of millionaires suddenly going bankrupt, the truth is that the majority of rich people have remained rich throughout this economic crisis. Maybe they weren't as rich as before, but they continued to maintain their position relative to everyone else since most people got a little poorer.

I was reading an article the other day about how the number of billionaires is back up to what it was before the crisis.

Ironic Lexington, how you tell us we shouldnt believe the media and then in your
closing statement you use the very same media to supplement your post.

I've found that the last really good time for dating for me was summer 2008, right as the economy was taking a huge dump. I don't know why, but since then the women have been less fun and more into LTRs. Less casual sex. 2009 and 2010 have only given me two new girls per year so far, not counting the mid- and long-term relps I'm in as well. I banged like 6 chicks in summer of 2008, it was a blast.

Also, back in the recession of 2001-2002 I couldn't get laid to save my asp... but that was before I was doing online dating. When the economy turned around in 2003-2004 the ladies opened up too.

I think there might be a lot to the economy thing vis-a-vis dating. The more money is around the looser women get. When they are afraid for their future they tend to clamp their legs together and wait for LTRs.

One interesting thing I've noticed since things really started going down the tubes is the amount of attractive girls working ****ty jobs like fast food drive thrus and grocery store cashiers. I guess all the best jobs that the good looking girls get are drying up.

That safety net of society is deteriorating for them. I suppose that women will be geared towards LTR's to guys with the most resources.

There have always been good looking girls in those positions, although they tend to be younger.

Zarky's theory about women's slvttiness being tied to the economy is an interesting one, I had never even considered that. It makes sense when you think about it.

Read carefully. I never said that we should not believe the media. I said they like to BOMBARD us with stories about rich people suddenly becoming poor. It is true that many people who were once rich became poor, but that doesn't change the fact that the majority of rich people remained wealthy through this depression.

Of course, a story about a millionaire becoming bankrupt overnight is far more appealing and interesting than a report about how most rich people are still rich....which isn't even really news.
