I was talking to my father today about how much muscle I could gain in a year(I based it on Lifeforce's 50 pounds in 11 months) and he said 50lbs in a year is way too much for your bones to handle. He said it would make your bones more likely to break, and also cause you to have arthritic conditions once your older...any of this true? And if it is, how much is weight is safe to gain of muscle in a year?

I sincerely doubt you could even gain 50lbs of muscle in 1 year.

I don't know how it would cause arthritic problems but no one not even the most genetically elite can gain anywhere near 50 pounds of muscle in a year especially without drugs.

These noobies that claim that gained 40-50 pounds in a year don't even realize that more than half is water and fat.

I haven't claimed it at all!!! I said if I weigh as much in the morning as I weigh with clothes and full off food THEN I would have gained that much WEIGHT. Right now I've gained 45 pounds and loads off it is fat, water, glycogen, etc... If you're gonna use my journal as a source then I suggest you actually read the things I write.

It doesn't matter how good-looking you are, how romantic you are, how funny you are... or anything else. If she doesn't have something INVESTED in you and the relationship, preferably quite a LOT invested, she'll dump you, without even the slightest hesitation, as soon as someone a little more "interesting" comes along.

Double, you should seek employment as a demolition man or something, and instead off using explosives you go at it with a sledgehammer, that'll be good for you. :cuss:

This is how wars start.

What your dad may be thinking is if someone got anywhere near that, their tendon strength and possibly joints would not adapt to the load as quickly and cause injury.

Let's be honest, a first year bulker, if he's dedicated, genetically gifted and carries a bit of fat well, may well put on 30-35lbs in a year and look resonable on it.

Most people here will gained 15lbs and from there on in the gains will come SLOWLY. That's life.

About 10% of the population will gain a lot in a freaky way, thats great, but I think alot of people here have unrealistic expectations of what you can achieve in a short period of time.

However even 15lb of lean mass is going to make quite a diference to your appearance, but not under a baggy jumper:(

Did he slap you around the head when you told him, or are you just a sloppy typist? That first sentence makes no sense to me at all.

It is possible to gain 50lbs in a year, although it depends on your bone structure, body type and genetics.

Drug users can gain a solid 25lbs on a decent 10 week course if they do things properly, and thats lean mass.

If you were a 6.0ft mesomorph, you could put on 50lbs of muscle in a year.

BUT THERE IS NO WAY YOU ARE GOING TO DO IT NATURALLY.

As for it being bad for your body? Well it cant be healthy. Thats a hell of a lot of weight for your body to cope with. It puts tremendous strain on your heart.

i gained maybe 8lbs in 2 weeks on 1-test. i was gaining strength very fast, and yes my bones did take a beating. i rmember jumping up 18-25lbs on bench during two weeks and my bones began to feel tight and very unstable, very scary stuff. but yes, in order to gain 50lbs a year. you'll need supplements such as 1-test or such in which again is banned in the US recently :\
