I'm confused right now. Since last wednesday, I started Summer Games: Week I (By Cloud-Uk) which was Weights and Excercise. I started off at 130 lbs that day. Now today, tuesday, I am 135.

What the!?!?

I wanna believe its muscle because my arms and chest look more toned up but my stomach has popped out a little bit more. So it could be both maybe? But how could it also be fat? This is what I've been eating since last wednesday, everyday is:

2 bowls of cereal, 1 cheese and turkey sandwich (low fat turkey slices), 2 slices of bread, 1 apple, 1 orange, a lean pocket (lower fat version of hot pockets), and enormous amounts of water. I'm amazed I havent died of over-hydration. I drink like 7 tall cups of water a day, sometimes more. So how did I gain this weight off whimpy meals like that???

I ate an exception of chicken breast pieces + fries from jack in the box saturday but I doubt I've could of gained weight off that.

This is my workout + excercise routine:

30 Push ups (feet on stool)
25 wide grip push ups (feet on stool)
15 Diamond Push ups (feet on stool)
80 Crunches
50 Cross crunches (each side)
25 hip ups

5 sets/15 reps/ of 20 lbs dumbbell curls (each arm)
50 reps of 15 lbs dumbbell lifts behind my shoulder area.

I weight 135 as of today
5'7
Around 18% body fat

So as I said, I am confused why I've gained 5 pounds off that.

Is it possible to gain 5 pounds of muscle off that little routine?

Or could it be its 3 pounds of muscle/2 pounds of fat?

Help me out here please.

Thanks in advance.

it's all water weight. Relax.

water = 8 lbs per gallon. You could fluctuate your body weight by 3-5 lbs in a couple hours if you drink enough, let alone a week or more.

Body weight is most accurate (and uninfluenced by water, food, etc) right upon waking up. I fluctuate about 6lbs a day depending on when you catch me.

This brought to you by a bodybuilder, i'm afraid it is a mix of fat and some water retention and maybe a lil' muscle. It is more likely to gain 1-2 lbs of lean muscle mass a week from intense training.

Sorry to say this, but your workout is not even close to intense.. If you really want to grow, you should start volumizing.

I am also amazed at how your diet is.. It is not even close to your protein needs. You should aim for 1-1.5 grams of protein per b/w.

You're 135; therefore you should be eating 135-202g of protein. If you really want to gain lean muscle mass.

Make your workout more intense, man. Those "Push-ups" are somewhat counter-productive.

Take this advice from me, i'm was 115 lbs from 15 months ago. I'm lean and 164 now!

I've gone from alot of extensive research and have gone balls to the wall with training.

I have been recently been banned in my bodybuilding forum. I have been taught by teen professionals and ifbb pro's in my previous forum so I know pretty much alot.

If you need to ask any questions regarding working out, pm me.

Oh, btw.. U have no split? You're killing yourself man. Your muscles are probably overtrained. Sorry to tell you, but those exercises really wont make you big; Infact, they do those kind of exercises in the military as soldiers in training, and guess what.. They are endurance exercises and do not lead to anything specific to hypertrophy (muscle growth)

I can however lead you to the right way. Hope you don't take this advice lightly because working out can be very life changing.

Take care & goodluck.

Plus I do them because I am gonna join the Marines when I graduate.

I thought those kind of push ups I do build up your muscle??

What you're going to need to buy is a barbell & a bench.
I guess what you're doing is good because you're planning to go to the marines.

Nope, unless they are weighted push-ups, and actually rather heavy, they won't stimulate your muscles to grow.

Rather, your muscles will be growing towards edurance improvement. Just look at bruce lee, these are the kind of exercises you would expect him to do.

And contrary to popular belief doing high repititions do not "tone"

Spot reduction does not exist. (Just wanted you to know incase you did'nt)

the ideal number of reps per set for building muscular size is 6 to 8 (I personally do 6).

I guess that's all. Jus' pm me if you got some q's..

there's no busing system in your area? Perhaps I'm spoiled, but I can get to and from the YMCA easily with just a little walking. It may be time consuming, but are you motivated or what?
