what do I have to do to gain about a good amount of weight in 10 weeks?

Background:
NOW weigh 185, but WANT to weigh 205.
Know I have to use free weights in workout with max intensity for muscle growth. I know have to eat 6 meals a day.

what kind of foods should i eat?

Rather than aim for X amount of lbs in X amount of time, just try to get started. Once you start and get into the habit of eating right, lifting right, start seeing improvements in the mirror and start feeling great about yourself, you will continue lifting indefinitely.

I can't tell you how much muscle I gained or in what time span, all I know is that every week I looked and felt better than the last.

I went from 180 to 215 in 12 months...obviously muscle AND fat. But maaaan do i wish i bulked a little slower, cause losing fat the right way is a b1tch!

Been on a cut now for 4 months and only @ 12% bf & 205 lbs. Can't wait to be shredded!

My mistake on my bulk was too many high glycemic carbs at alot of the wrong times.

So pretty much follow Espi's advice...and do some research...you'll learn alot!

Eat big & Lift heavy!

I'd check out the Abs Diet book - or at least the Abs Diet website, which gives you an overview of what the ideas of it are. I've been with it about 2 weeks and have already made some impressive gains. It's not kooky stuff, either... just eating right and working out to maximize your time in the gym.

I'm sceptical of any diet that claims...

20lbs in 10 weeks is very do-able.

-Lift Strong. Choose a good training program such as Bill Starr or Mark Rippetoe's Starting Strength.
-Eat your 6 meals a day, every day, day after day.
-Drink Milk: drink lots of milk, I know people who gained 50lbs in one year by drinking more than 1 gallon a day.

good luck.

Yeah, it's do-able, especially if you're a newbie to weight training. I gained about 20lbs (with a little fat gain) in my first 10 weeks of training.

PM EFFORT as he offered, he's an awesome trainer, he'll set you up right :)

Key points:

- Good training
- Sufficient protein (1.5-2g/lb of bodyweight, i.e. if you're 150lbs eat 225-300g of protein)
- Enough rest

Good advice as always from stronglifts, but I'll just say that milk doesn't agree with everyone :) (lactose intolerence is present in most of us)

cheers,
-shaun

Shaun,

I don't consume milk (or any other dairy product) for your information. I totall agree with the lactose intolerence.

If one does not have food allergy problems caused by dairy products: I'd say go with milk. Best for bulking, look at babies.

Depends on the person.

IN 10 WEEKS, THE VERY BEST THAT YOU'LL BE ABLE TO GAIN IS ABOUT 5 LB OF "MUSCLE", IF YOU DO GAIN 20 LB, IT'LL BE FAT......AND YOU DON'T WANNA BE A FATTY.

That's not particularly true at all. The idea that only half a pound of muscle can be gained in a week, especially in newbies, is just bull.

Too many people confuse weight they gained for muscle. There are several factors to consider with the weight you gain;

-Are you weighing yourself under the same conditions everytime,ie,in the morning on an empty stomach?

-How much water have you drank surrounding the time of the weight in?

-Are you taking any creatine supplements that help you hold water, which will make you gain weight?

-Have you had your bodyfat tested to confirm that you didn't gain any fat?

That's why I always advise people to look at the mirror & take pictures.
