Got back in touch with a friend from High School. He told me that he was starting his own home business, and that he was going to retire in two years. Intrigued, I asked him what his business was. He sent me a link to some e-commerce junk, so I said "that's not your website". He then sent me a link to "his" site.

I was completely blown away by how retarded the prices were. Who the hell would pay $16 for a tube of toothpaste, or $2000 for a set of cookware? If you don't believe me, see for yourself:

Oh yeah, check out the price of Whey Protein while you're at it.

After looking into the products, I looked into it a little further. Quixtar is owned by the same company as Amway. Both are basically legal pyramid schemes.

It was really difficult telling him that I doubt he'd be able to retire from selling Amway. Unfortunately, it's just as much a cult as it is a pyramid scheme and he's probably brainwashed beyond help. Sad.

I'm all for limited government, but these kinda of cults should be illegal. But since Scientology is still legal (considered a criminal organization in other countries) there is no way the government is going to do something about Amway.

I've done about every get-rich-quick scheme there is.

Yeah, Amway is ridiculous. Technically, it escapes pyramid scheme status if there is a real product involved. But they have to make everything ridiculously expensive and low-quality in order to pay the commission to all the levels of people. This is why vitamins are so popular in MLM. Cheap, crappy vitamins can easily be touted at some miracle pill and sold for 100x what they are worth. The greater the commissions and markups, the more the arrangement resembles a true pyramid in which all of your money comes from recruiting other people and the product is a mere illusion.

Here are some common lines used by distributors. If you hear any of these, you should get away as quickly as possible.

Lines used for contacting/ approaching:
"Do you ever look at other ways of making money?"
"Maybe you can help me, I'm in the process of expanding a business in the area and I'm looking for a.. um... a go-getter type. Do you KNOW anybody like that?"
"Do you know anyone who might be interested in making a couple-extra of thousand dollars a month working 8 to 10 hours a week?"
"I was wondering if you could give me your opinion on a business I'm looking at. I really value your opinion and could use your input."
"Hi, this is John. I was telling you about the business I am in the process of expanding and you ASKED me to give you a call."
Lines used to deflect/ disguise the business is Amway:
"We work with (Diamond's full name), who owns (Diamond's last name) Enterprises, out of (Diamond's town). He owns his own consumer distribution company. Maybe you've heard of them?"
"Well, sure, we do sell Amway products, but that's only about 20% of what we sell. Everything else comes from over 2,000 other companies, most of which are 'Fortune 500'."
"Naw, it's not Amway, it's (InterNet Services or WWDB or INA). We only use Amway to move products."
"Amway?! No, this is Quixtar- it's entirely different."
"No, it's not Amway." (An out-right lie that some distributors may use to get people to sign up.)

i have a friend who buys the stuff all the time. The sugar-free Root Beer XS is pretty tasty. But I'd never pay $24 buck for a box of the stuff.

This one girl that i was chatting up for a couple months from myspace desperately tried to sell me her natural facial products from a group called "NEWays". She was saying how she cares for my health and that she wanted me to go to the seminar to find out about it and blah blah blah.

She was saying how the big company products i use for my hair and face are full of dangerous toxins that can "kill" me, she even went as far as to say that at one of the seminars, they had a guest speaker..some lady that had cancer and had been cured ever since she started using their products!...all thanks to "NEways" of course!!!

She tried to make me think she was interested in me but also tried to sell me this product at the same time, and even try to recruit me. She kept hassling me and brining up the subject of "NEways" every time i talked to her, she even got offended every time i called it a pyramid scheme...it was annoying!

Any AFC would have fell for it, but not this DJ.

Yeah I've had a couple of distant friends get into these sorts of things. Some people just can't seem to see through the schemes.

I have known many people who have done Scamway, and they all told me, "forget selling the product- recruitment is the way to succeed".

Although I wholeheartedly believe in the compounding power of pyramid structures.......but the product has to be somewhat marketable.

This is where Scamway fails......product not many people are able to faithfully stand by. Plus, it's VERY expensive, too.

You can make more money detailing cars from your home, than pushing Scamway.
