I'll keep this short. I used to be one this site 5-6 years ago, and forgot my user/password.
I've been in a LTR for about 2 years, ending 3 weeks ago. I wasn't depressed, I wasn't sad, I felt no different because of the 'training' I went though on this site many years ago. In HS senior year I went through probably 50 girls mostly from pickups and learned not only rejection but the ability to cope.
So I was relaxing with a few friends at a restaurant/bar and saw a cute girl that I thought was the girlfriend of another guy. Turns out she wasn't, and as she is walking out I talk to her for a few minutes and don't close.
My bud works with her (he's her boss weirdly enough) and since he is in a LTR, likes to live vicariously through me now being single. He asks her what she thought of me, and gets her number. He also, without my consent, began talking me up to her. While this isn't ideal, I ran with it.
I give her a call a few days later and set up a meet. Phone call was short, and I admitted to her I hate talking on the phone. Throughout the week I made contact through texts contrary to the site's advice. I don't care, I have used texting very successfully in the past as a good way to set up hooks. It allows me to have a constant ability to contact THEM, while not committing to responding back until I see fit. In a game so based on knowing what people are doing, having this kind of control is nice.
So we play pool tonight after I pick her up. Everything went well, physical contact, eye contact, and playing pool was an activity enough to make sure the silences that did happen weren't awkward. Well, I bring up a hook from texting and ask her to say something in spanish to me. She thinks for a second and says 'Bellisse me' (I can't spell spanish words). I ask her what it means and she says 'Kiss me'. I obliged.
We played half a game more. Went back to my place. We both had fun. Hour and a half later we leave so I can drop her off since she has work tomorrow. She's still texting me, and I have one of her earrings, so she will be back at my place this week.
Feels good to be back in the game, after 2 years, without so much as a hitch. Sure things weren't ideal, but it wouldn't have gone off this way without the things that happened as a result of being on this site.
I did so many things tonight contrary to what the site says. I am a self admitting dork and it has played out for me SO many times simply because while making fun of a girl can take her down a peg, being able to make fun of yourself shows you have your ego under control. I played in marching band, am a studying engineer and love video games, and yet I can still pull when needed.
There is hope for anyone. I would not subscribe to 100% of the advice given here because people are so diverse. Anything and everything, even contrary to the masses ideals, and work out in a given situation. The only thing that truly works is putting yourself out there as much as possible, and learning.
