recently there was a thread that divided people between either doing morning cardio on an empty stomach or on some water based fruit. either way, i have a more general question.
say i'm trying to lose some fat while maintaining/increasing strength, hopefully gaining muscle as well. i've skipped on the cardio for a while, so obviously fat has appeared. now im still on the rippetoe mwf split, and im adding some basic cardio training in between
T/Th will be the work capacity workout on rosstraining http://www.rosstraining.com/articles/workcapacity101.html (this **** is hard)
20-30mins MAX, only because any more and ill be a pile of sludge.
on the weekends, just some moderate jump roping, paybe 20-30 mins as well.
now the question i have is doing morning cardio more effective than doing night cardio? in the morning i feel sluggish and i usually shower before i sleep, but if it is more effective, ill switch.
also, if i do end up doing night cardio, does it matter if i eat afterwards, a full meal i mean?

I have read posts on another board I go to from a certified personal trainer who says to do cardio when you feel at your best for it.

This makes sense because after all if you feel sluggish you aren't going to move as quickly and burn as many calories anyway.

Also I'm pretty sure that guy said that it technically doesn't do you any better if you do it at morning or night just make sure you get it in sometime during the day for its benefit.

What he said matches another thing I read about cardio that said you are only burning calories while you do it so doing it in the morning isn't going to create some kind of all day burn.

So yeah either time is good.

It seems to be just getting it in is what counts the most.

As for the meal after cardio I've heard that fat is burned off during and after cardio for a little while if you do it on an empty stomach but you should wait an hour or two afterwards if you want the maximum amount of fat burning to occur from your cardio workout.

Eat after an hour exactly to prevent muscle loss.

yes, i was worried about the muscle loss.
the ross training seems to be like an intense HIIT. i cant really describe it since im not really an expert on these categories, but hiit should make you burn more energy over a longer period of time. hopefully, sleeping doesn't reduce this effect :)
