When hiring for clients, recruiting firm Murray Resources in Houston has seen candidates not show up for interviews and start dates. “Candidates have so many options in this market that typical professional etiquette is being ignored,” said Keith Wolf, a managing director, who said even his own firm has run into such hiring problems.

“We have a generation of professionals who grew up on dating apps, where ghosting has been accepted as an annoying, but common, phenomenon,” he said. “I believe that is leaking into the professional world.”

That article is outdated. Economy is in a recession. People will be begging for jobs soon, like 2008-2009.

Young people are not in a rush to work for one simple reason.

Demands from employers and life costs are calibrated to 2022 while benefits and salaries lag as if we're in 2002...it's really that simple.

There are no such things as "careers", now you get used and thrown away in the short term till the next slave arrives, the concept of hard working and suffering in order to secure a stable posizione is gone as much as investing in a woman to enjoy a stable relationship.

It's 2022 fellas, we have the 2008 crysis on steroids plus an updated version of the cold war while an overhyped virus is still around.

This isn't an entirely new thing, but I'm not surprised to hear it has increased. Back in my pre-retirement days, we would frequently have new employees hired who simply never showed up. Some jobs aren't for everybody, and for some people, they just aren't cut out for working.

I was going to say the something similar. Ghosting in the hiring process has been going on for a long time. It's unprofessional and usually associated with jobs that pay less than $25/hour
