Hey dudes...

To cut the story short im a golfer... i play off a handicap of 4 and am looking to get down to scratch this year. I also however, am looking to 'sculpt' a good physique from weightlifting! i have gained a stone in weight already and am looking to improve on this...

My question is this: How can i retain my flexibility (which is vital in improving my golf) whilst still 'getting big' at the same time. Because i have found that my i am becoming inflexible as a result of getting big.
thanks

Prolly gonna sound stupid but stretch. Stretch Before or After a workout. Stretch after a warmup set or a jog. Simply put: Stretch When you have your blood flowing.

Get the book "Relax Into Stretch" by Pavel Tsatsouline. It's got a lot of good information on safe and effective stretching. You can probably steal it on some file-sharing programs in PDF format.

Stretching is going to do it man....

Being "big" and being "unflexible" are two things that people always unnecessarily group together. For some reason, people think that more muscle mass translates to less flexibility, when I've actually seen bodybuilding vids with some damn flexible guys. Some of these guys can do the splits (i.e. Jean Claude Van Damme) and get into a number of positions for their poses that require grace, athleticism, and flexibility, much like ballet.

How about you go to google and type the two words you want together... "bodybuilding" and "stretching". Because, regardless of how big you really want to get, you ARE bodybuilding when you add mass to your frame, and so you need to look at how THEY maintain their flexibility.

Peace and Quiet

If you currently have too many women chasing you, calling you, harassing you, knocking on your door at 2 o'clock in the morning... then I have the simple solution for you.

Just read my free ebook 22 Rules for Massive Success With Women and do the opposite of what I recommend.

This will quickly drive all women away from you.

And you will be able to relax and to live your life in peace and quiet.

Stretch all the time, not just before and after exercising. Do it before bed and when you wake up. And when you are warming up to exercise, stretch lightly, do a little warm up cardio, and then stretch as far as you can go.

thanks guys!!

but my only query behind 'stretching' is that is that it will undo some of the work that i have done through bodybuilding! Do you think one will inhibit the other?

Your probably confused because of the HUGE builders who walk like their legs are made of wood.

You can stretch, and your range of motion will be good as long as the size of your muscles don't get in the way. That is it.

Just make sure you don't stretch after doing any strenuous workouts. Get your blood flowing lightly, some light cardio, than stretch. Yoga gets your blood flowing:)

If you stretch after doing anaerobic workouts, the tendons that connect the muscles to the bone will have less energy to hold the grip. SO if you stretch after a hard workout(running or lifting) you may tear some of the tendons. Too much tearing and you won't be able to do any more workouts.

Don't make any excuses about working out. You can stretch on your off days.
