I just read a short article that discusses 5 things you should never tell a used car salesman. A strong parallel can be observed between these rules and the rules of dating women. After all, women are like used car salesman with their product being their (often secretly broken down) selves. Below are the 5 used car rules and the dating rules they correspond to:
1) Never tell them how much you like the car (or how much you like them).
Once you tell a woman how much you like them they almost always lose interest. Especially early on. Women rarely like you more just because you like them, but for some reason we imagine "if she only knew how much I liked her...".
2) Never tell them how much you can afford to spend (or how much you make).
If you make 100K per year she will imagine you make 200K. It's absolutely amazing to watch as the economy tanks but somehow women's expectations for your income continue to grow. Let them imagine how much you make.
3) Never tell them how little you know about the car (or about women).
She doesn't want to think she's your first girlfriend. She wants a man with experience the same way you want a woman who is innocent and pure (we are opposites).
4) Never discuss the monthly payment (or future plans with her).
Discussing two dates into the future puts undue pressure on women. She should be wondering if you'll ask her out again, not marking her calendar 3 weeks in advance. Likewise at the end of the date don't talk about the next date for a few days.
5) Say nothing about your trade-in plans (and don't be the first to talk about a commitment).
The woman MUST be the first one to ask for a committed relationship. Why? Because women are the ones with more options so they are sacrificing more of the opposite gender to be in a LTR. Spin plates until they try and tie YOU down. Men are supposed to fear commitment, remember?
For more insight on these rules, here is the original article:
