1) Find guys who are really good at whatever it is you want to learn. Do what they do (not necessarily what they say).
2) Go out and practice your new expert-inspired techniques for getting whatever it is done. Practice a whole lot.
3) Keep what works and drop what doesn't work. Be flexible. Combine and recombine techniques. Invent your own.
4) Stay flexible. Don't let success make you stale. That knoll you just finished climbing is probably just the foothill of a mountain. Stay open to new ways of doing things.
5) Make sure you have fun doing it. If you have fun, you learn about a billion times faster and better than if you don't.
