Few Questions about the Alpha Male....

Gentlemen,

Let me start by saying that I am no Newb to this forum. Lately I have taken a break from it because I am in a relationship but now I'm startng to kick around the forum again.

I was just crusin around the tips forum seeing if I could contribute to any discussions or whatever and I came across a post that was entitled "The Alpha Male" by De La Soul. It was an exelent post and it made me do some thinking.

He stated that "the Alpha Male is not only dependent on his looks . He has many very obvious attributes and characteristics, which all result in him being at the top of the pecking order, the leaders of the pack.
Here are the traits of an Alpha Male:" and then listed these traits.

1. ENTITLEMENT
2. POPULARITY
3. APPEARENCE
4. PEOPLE POWER
5. FLAMBOYANCE
6. BRAVERY
7. RULE MAKER, RULE BREAKER

These all make complete sence and it resembles me quite well. However, there are a few qualities that I realized I don't posess yet. They are:

2. POPULARITY
He is the centre of attention. He has the charisma to draw others to him, both male and female. ...

4. PEOPLE POWER
Alpha Males often make good politicians because of their powers of persuasiveness, charm and ambition. He knows how to network. He will know how to listen, but even more obviously, people will listen to him. People respect him because he respects himself. People listen to him because they respect him.

Another similar thing that I found in his post said, "At any party or social situation it will be obvious who the Alpha Male (or Alpha Males) are, to start with, he will have the attention of the room focused on him. As soon as an Alpha Male walks into a bar, fifty sets of eyes will follow him, almost equally divided between male and female. He will has the respect of the room as soon as he walks in."

This is something that I am lacking. When I walk intoa bar or into a party I don't turn heads. i have the confidence thing down and get my fair share of women but this is something I lack and I have seen it in other, more successful, males. This trait of being able to turn heads and to have everyone listen to you when you speak. I just have never gotten that. I am an above average looking guy and I carry myself high and walk with confidence (live life with confidence) but I seem to lack that ability to draw people to me. So how do you guys think this can change. I don't care abou tbeing popular but I want to be the guy that turns heads and draws people to him. Any suggestions/ opinions/help?

The other thing I need to work on is being more charasmatic. Any tips for that?

If you want to work on some of the things you posted. I would check out the book The Art Of Seduction by Robert Greene.

Last year it helped me out alot. BTW I will probably reread it soon.

Popularity is not necessary in order to be an Alpha male.

I would replace it with "Faith" in that the Alpha male must have Faith in himself and in life to respond to his powerful attitude accordingly.

Hey Ronin,

I admit that I can use improvement in those areas as well.

I was thinking about either taking a public speaking course and/or maybe getting involved in a local theatrical production. Both of these would help to build charisma and get more comfortable being the center of attention in front of a lot of people. This will also help with your "people power" as well. Charisma/charm are skills that you can develop. You really just have to make it a point to practice.

As for turning heads when you walk in a bar - to me that's all about "attitude". I'm originally from NYC and I've often had friends (not from NYC) tell me that I carry myself with a certain "attitude" and that I have a certain aura about me. I've also had people tell me that "strut" around at times. Mind you, I have no idea that I'm doing these things - they come naturally to me - so it would be hard for me to explain how I do it. My best advice would be to "practice" this as well. "Fake it 'til you make it".

I didn't mean actual popularity, I meant the quality that is "He is the centre of attention. He has the charisma to draw others to him, both male and female. ..." that was higlighted under popularity of this post.

Like I said I could care less abou tbeing popular, but i do want to turn heads went i walk into some place.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply. I do know that one can develop things like charisma and charm but i am not sure how one would go abou tdoing this (the play/public speaking courses are a good idea though.

Any other ideas about howto turn heads and work on being more "charming"?

Somebody's gotta have some ideas. Cmon guys these qualities are hard to obtain. I thought this would bea heated discussion. hehe
