Hes fat, but fit as well. How?

Well hes been doing cardio stuff running, jumping, biking frequently during a week for as long as 7 years. Hes got more stamina than most people who step onto the soccer pitch with him every couple of days.

He also did mad weights in his adolescence which meant he was visibly more built than the average class-mate. And he could lift considerably more than them.

Yet despite the fitness, despite the clearly expanded upper torso, his body has always seemed to carry this weight. The strength of his arms are hidden by the lard it carries. His belly is like a balloon if he lets it hang, his hips are so wide they look like women's, and his thighs are like tree trunks.

He seems destined to stay on 14.5 stones. (Hes 5 ft 9 by the way.) Hes tried to lose weight for over a decade now, but it just won't happen.

Hes also been told consistently his body has really huge potential to get stacked cos he can turn the weight into muscle.

All he really wants is to look like Anthnoy Ellis or Cristiano Ronaldo.

So here i am. i needs people to start me off and point me in the right direction so i can turn this into a very succesful journal. All im reading about is skinny guys bulking up...

I've got a picture on my computer, how can i put it up?

Then you're reading enough, not everyone in this forum bulks. I certainly don't.

This is just a generalization, but first let me tell you I can relate to your situation.

1. cardio in the morning 5x per week (45 minutes each sess.)
2. take in 2200-2500kcals per day
3. eat 6+ times per day, so your eating roughly 400kcals per meal.
4. the meals are going to look like this(courtesy of EFFORT):

Meal 1 - Shake +Raw Eggs
Meal 2- Beef/veggies
Meal 3- Shake + Raw Eggs
Meal 4- Beef/Veggies
Meal 5- Shake+ Raw Eggs
Meal 6- Chicken Or Tuna/ Fish Oil

Take in 200-300g of protein, 50-150g of carbs, and 75-150g of fat per day. It's up to you to choose the foods.

5. stay away from all fast food, all frozen food, tv dinners, soft drinks, chocolate...etc. you know the foods im talking about.
6. get 6-9 hour of sleep per night, go to bed at the same time every night and wake up at the same time every morning. This keeps your hormones, metabolism, and body chemicals working well. It's pretty important.
7. drink 4-6L of water per day. What I did is buy a 1L water bottle and made sure to fill it up 4 times a day.
8. Drink green and white tea instead of coffee.
9. Stay away from all carbohydrates 5 hours before bed, no exceptions. This includes fast food, potatoes, cereals, icecream, chocolate, and beer.
10. Yeah, stay away from alcohol as much as possible, it doesn't help. I still drink now and then but understand that your sabotaging your efforts by drinking frequently.
11. Lift weights. There's enough workouts and information on this board that I don't need to dip into this subject.
12. Try to live a better life. If there's **** that makes you depressed, or if you have things that you need to do but are avoiding, it'll eat at you and release the wrong body chemicals(stress signals/insulin/cortisol), it'll prevent good fat loss.

I'm sure others will come along and fill in the gaps, but following that list will get you ripped in 3-6 months of hard work.

remember, if you want to see massive change you have to take massive action.

cheers

QuickSilver i really couldn't have asked for a better advice.

Its a difficult challenge, but what an opportunity! Im really looking forward to it. Should be good fun.

I need some clarification of what shake+raw eggs are specifically. How many eggs? Whats the shake? Other than that im all set...

Start off with 3 raw eggs + 2 scoops whey protein. (Use the flavour of whey of your choice).

If fat loss isn't working so well, makesure you have your carb cutoffs in place. As Quik said, 5 hours before bed. If things are too slow, make this 6 hours before bed and add 5 minutes to your cardio. Small changes.

Then look at lowering carbs in the first half of the day. Lowering calories will get things moving, but preferably lowering carbs.

Don't know if Quik mentioned but make a log on here. Then we can hold you accountable and help you out better.

Good luck,

Quagmire

Why the bulking obsession?

I don't know why everyone wants to bulk up. It's possible to be powerful by acquiring a lean muscular physique. I'm in the 150s weight class. I will get down to 154 pounds and maintain. Being in this weight class I am able to lift heavy and continue to set higher weight lifting goals. Why are so many guys obsessed with bulking up?

Lean? Sure. Powerful? Maybe. Muscular in the 150s? No.

depends wut u consider small. i never wanna look like some body builder dude, i wanna hav more like a basketball player's build (which i already hav). problem for me at least is that i wanna get a lil bigger and even that is hard cus my metabolism is so high. i dont wanna sound like a ***** cus a high metabolism is a blessing too but its the fact that we gotta do everythin right to gain weight, thats why it sounds kinda obsessive i guess

Agreed it's way too light to be considered muscular. It's not noticeable in clothes at all.

Some of you guys think that guys in the lower 160s or the 150s class don't look muscular. Well, I happen to know of several examples to contradict that. Two of them post in this section: stronglifts and moi. Then there was a video posted in the forums a couple of months back. A dude who was 158 pounds and had explosive power and good definition. He and I are both less than 160 pounds and are strong. As for me, I get compliments on my build. Women say I have a good body and my muscular definition is good. It does show in my clothes. (And before you even say it, I don't post pictures.) I'm not where I personally want to be yet but I'm getting there.

And if you think guys in the 150s class can't be powerful, I'll prove you wrong on that. I'm getting stronger and stronger. Keep reading my entries and you'll see continued progress.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to be big if that's the way you want to be, but there is also absolutely nothing wrong with being lean muscular in the 150s class.

when its poppin in the club, and the fool thinks hes all that, all i do is whip off the shirt and tell him to bring it on. The fool will get shook by what hes got himself into, try and sneak out of the club, and i end up with 2 girls in each arm!

Also im sick of trying to lose this weight cos it just won't budge. I've given up so, im gonna try and build weight instead.
