100% true. I even laugh at how a lot of folks on the right blame the current job/employment structure all on Obama's policies, without looking at the changing structure of the economy.

A lot of the new jobs being created are on the lower pay scale, because that's the state of the economy today. But the divide is going to get much bigger between the HAVES and the HAVE NOTS as the HAVES are likely going to be the people that are making and controlling the Robots to produce production, while the HAVE NOTS are going to be the people that the Robots are going to replace.

I'm in Professional Sales but it's not just in our industry, just about every industry with a consulting/service function has the Account Reps, Managers, etc. all using sophisticated/new age technology (robots) that automate a lot of routine tasks and perform those tasks on their own. We just watch over those robots/technologies and make sure everything is going smooth.

So the question is, where do those people go? On welfare? Rely more on the Government? The Government is broke.

It's why I seriously don't understand why people don't consider these things, they are just going about their day, smoking their "weed", making kids they can't afford, and doing other DUMB financial decisions thinking that Daddy Obama will bail them out of everything.

The next ten years (2016 - 2026) is about to be the start of the massive Robot and Globalization take-over. If you think you have Wealth Inequality right now, you haven't seen nothing yet.
Those who control this new world would do better to go with Basic Income. Sure it's socialism but when you control most of the world's wealth it's really just control. Promise them a a place to live, food to eat, minor work to do and let them drink or do drugs while you and your robots prepare for the next step. Immortality and moving out into the universe. It's either that or eliminate a large portion of the earth's population because they will be unable to have basic resources and will become a source of unrest. Placate the beast and put it to sleep. Robotics and technology will be the wall between the have and the have nots.

a EXCELLENT php programmer...40 an hour and not milking the clock lol is reasonable. that's about what i pay my people

a good .net programmer - 50 an hour

a good ruby on rails programmer -50-60 an hour

I will and have paid 80 an hour for high level javascript programmers i.e AngularJS/Nodejs/smartjs/backbonejs type stuff. if you want to really make money in programming this is where you need to be. you're not gonna get anywhere charging people 80 dollars an hour to do wordpress work lol

i took my son to burger king last night as he wanted some of those chicken fries, which are pretty good

so we get there and we are the only people in the place.. took 10 mins.

the fries were cold (teh actual fries)

and my son likes the icy when you mix the two flavors lol, so i ask that. woman just gave him a regular coke icy.

i mean something has to give. i would not mind paying 15 an hour for outstanding customer service but these people dont' even deserve to be working minimum wage honestly.

how ****ing hard is it to take some fries and put them in a bag and make a mixed icy in under 5 mins lol

chic fli a gets it. you are going to pay a tad more for your meal but it's going to be delicious, hot and right.

You already have a "form" of this in terms of things like the Unearned Income Credit, EBT Food Stamps, Pell Grants and Medicaid.

The US for the last 75 years or so has been a combination of capitalism and socialism, which I think is a great balance as 100% of either would be dangerous.

Using this mixture, the "socialism" aspect of it is how society provides a "floor" for you while you are climbing the capitalism ladder, to where if you slip and fall you don't fall ALL the way to the bottom in terms of sleeping on the street with no food.

The issue is that for too many Americans, the "floor" has become their staying ground. They aren't trying to climb a ladder, they are sitting in the safety net not applying themselves or they are making dumb decisions (kids they can't afford for example) that keep them chained to the safety net.

The solution to this is that the Free Public Education provided in High School has to increase standards significantly. Kids should come out of high school with capabilities to start a business and operate various forms of advanced technology BEFORE they even stop foot in a college. Globalization would need to be further embraced where we are developing more and more markets internationally.

Basically, increase the specialized skill education of our citizens so we are the most educated in the world, then use our skills to develop products and sell them to the GLOBAL market. We are pretty much here right now, but this is about to get even worse and those who are not apart of this network (the HAVE NOTS) are going to be left behind.

that's the DEfINITION of have nots, man. Left behind. Too bad. Their parents are to blame for HAVING them, when not able to get them thru at least a master's degree (or apprentice plumber, master welder, etc). A DECENT education would cost 4x as much as now paid to the schools. The taxpayer aint going for that.

In a rather swank, touristy sort of town (pagosa springs, CO) I once went into a Kyfri/Taco place. Normally it's 5+ minutes wait. Girl had it in my hand in a minute flat. I told her she was FAR too good for that job and told her where to apply at a local supper only dating/restaurant. She started making $200 per night in TIPS. My meal was alway on her "tab"., once a week. :) This was in 2005, $300 per night in today's money. Little or no tax on tips, ya know. All cash

In terms of my basic lifestyle structuring, I'm not having any kids, not getting married and not buying any real estate. I'm basically free to move, go, come, etc. whenever/where-ever. In terms of not having kids and not getting married (thus taking the risk of divorce/alimony off the table with it), saves me a SIGNIFICANT amount of money going forward. People love to say investing in a House would be their biggest investment/expense, no, making children is going to be your biggest investment/expense.

I don't get people that still believe that buying real estate is the same value that it was 40 years ago when you had an economy where if you were Middle Class, you pretty much worked for the SAME company, in the SAME area, for 20 - 30 years into Retirement.

Now, with our Generation (Millennials), this type of economy is no longer active. We might have to work in Texas for 5 years, then move to South Carolina for the next 5 years to work, then move to the UK to work for the next 10 years, then back to the US working in NY for the next 10 years after that into retirement. Where does one buy a house in the middle of this procedure? SURE you can buy a house regardless, but you are going to take a loss due to not being PUT in one place for at least 15 years.

I honestly think that beyond the obvious of working in the high demand areas, those who are TRULY going to "make it" going forward are going to be those with EFFICIENT EXPENSE MANAGEMENT.

This means you can't make MAJOR expense mistakes such as:

- You can't afford to buy a house, have to sell early and take a loss

- You can't afford a stock market crash or a low performing mutual fund

- You can't afford a divorce, multiple divorces, or alimony payments

- You can't afford EXCESSIVE child support payments

- You can't afford multiple kids in general (that you aren't able to afford)

- You can't afford a major liability lawsuit due to not carrying basic liability insurance coverages

- You can't afford to take out heavy student loan debt

My Generation doesn't have the leeway that the Baby Boomers had, where they can do DUMB shyt like many of the listings above, and still manage today to have some type of retirement.

We are going to have to be VERY EFFICIENT with our EXPENSE MANAGEMENT.

I manage, account for and track every single penny that I spend. Nothing is spent that isn't categorically tracked. I do this so I can find ways to reduce the total amount of spending for that area in particular, such as buying in bulk, buying on sale, eliminating a category altogether, etc.

MARRY a dentist from the 3rd world, guys.

you can get 100-150k handed to you in 3-4 years, tax free. If where you live is a building that's paying you a clear 50k per year (if you manage it) and say, 20k per year if you're NOT managing it, you'll want several such buildings! :)

It'the single familiy residence type of real estate that you can't risk owning, cause it offers no income-return on your investment. When you pay the same money for a much larger, (and much older) house, and rent out weekly rooms, the house MAKES money for you and you dont NEED to move all over the world to have a decent income. :)

You must use a VA home loan to buy such housing, so that you dont have to cough up the 20% down payment, nor the 6k of closing costs. What costs the average guy 25k, costs the veteran NOTHING. YOU have to pay the vet to be your "go-fer" a while, so that he qualifies for the loan. So he OWES you. After you learn that building's expenses, problems, and income, THEN the vet can manage it for you. He gets a free room and say, 5k per year, for doing nothing, really. YOU will still be handling repairs, upgrades, etc, at least for the first few years and the first few buildings. Maybe not actually doing the work, but closely supervising it.

Avoid having much money in such a building, cause they are all at higher risk (than a single family residence) to burn, fall down, get sued out of existence, be vandalized, have the city rule against their presence, etc, etc. if you can GET such a mortgage, you want an "interest only" loan, so that you pay the minimum amount that lets you have control of the building.

When you have 5 such buildings, they make you enough money to afford the hiring of a property management firm, who will monitor the performance of your building managers. Then you don't have to live in that state, or that country anymore, much less that town or that part of town. That not needing to work for anyone is REAL freedom and you can have it in 4-5 years, right out of high school.

there is no hope of doing the above. But what CAN be done is run 10 million illegals out of the US and IMPORT 10 million Md's, dentists, engineers, programmers, etc, who are ALREADY trained, who will work for 40k per year, for 5 years, until we ALLOW them to become full citizens.

I had already knew about these machines. Eventually they will probably have robots making the food or something. The whole 15 an hour thing is ridiculous. It will just drive prices up. Then what happens to people that are already making 15 an hour? They will want raises and so will just about everyone else. Then we are all right back to where we were before.
It's all ridiculous. 15 an hour for lazy useless workers. Then the owners of the franchises make upwards of 500k a year and even they don't do their share. It's why McDonalds sucks.

I'll say this much. At least in the IT industry now is probably the best time in the last.. 15 years to be a regular ass US based programmer.

People are running from outsourced programming work just as fast as they ran into it lol. Back when programming hit the scene Americans were charging ****ing 1500 dollars for 5-7 page HTML static websites.. **** that I could build myself right now in a day if I really felt like it. Dudes that didn't know 2 lines of PHP code were making 50-60 dollars an hour.

Then people realized that Indians would do that work for 5-6 dollars an hour (really closer to 10) and started going overseas for the work to get done.

Then larger companies started saying hey we can send all our IT work over there and get it done for 10 dollars an hour instead of 100 and we'll be rich and **** lol. "So everyone rushed to downsize and outsource.

Yahoo recently fired every last one in their Indian IT divison. Every ****ing person. If I had to put a legit number on it.. 30% of the work I get is

"hey man we have this website that we we had planned on and we've been working with this indian firm on it for 6 months and it's behind schedule and it doesn't work and we've spent 500hours (for a 80 hour project lol) debugging and fixing it and we just need someone to come in and clean it up and get it launched"

There are a handful of great indian IT firms, but just that, a handful. they aren't stupid, they just don't think out the box and from my experience will always take the shortest cut possible to get something done.

People, compaines are realizing I'd rather spend 60 dollars an hour for 80 hours of work and get it right on time then spend 15 dollars an hour for 300 hours of work and get it wrong then have to go back and spend the 60 dollars an hour to get it right on top of it.

I have people that work for me across the globe. My best programmer lives in Vietnam. I would swim in a fish tank infested with great white sharks that haven't eaten for a month before I ever hire an indian programmer to jack **** for me again lol. It's the cutulre. They don't care about quality and they don't think out the box. They'l say whatever they can do to get a job from you then milk the **** out of you for hours, over exaggerate estimates, etc.

Now is the best time to be an american based programmer in quite a while.

Concentrating on "dollars an hour" is a recipe to fail. I know from a general management point of view you have to use data/stats like that to help you, but you better be concentrating on getting the best people, and paying them, rather than just outsourcing work just because it's cheaper. That's the same logic that women use when they say men get paid so many more dollars per hour for the same job. What they don't get is that there is no "same job". Except in the government I suppose. It's all about the people.
