Ill be honest a lot of you will probably think this is a stupid question, but Ill go ahead and ask it anyway.

Over the past year I feel like my looks have faded. When I first went to college last year I was told often by the opposite sex that I was very good looking and usually never had a hard time with women.

It is now my sophmore year and I never recieve those responses. When I look in the mirror I see bags under my eyes, a faded jawline, and my face always looks unhappy even when I smile (I was always told I had very happy eyes/face). Maybe its all mental. Its gotten to the point however where I dont like to go out around the opposite sex anymore because of it.

I was just curious if it is possible for someone to go from good looking to not at all in a years time.

I have gained a few pounds but mostly muscle as I have been doing a rigorous body building routine.

Also I started smoking Which Ive heard can have an impact on your appearance but only after many many years I thought.

Here is a picture of me now.

And one of me a year ago.

Thanks ahead of time for any responses.

A lot of people go thru physical changes when they go off to college. Chicks often gain weight. My guess would be that you are not taking care of youself properly(diet, sleep, partying). I wouldn't sweat it though. Just make some changes and see what works.

This can make a huge difference in some people, even after just a year if you smoke enough and depending on genetics. You really should quit regardless - not only for your health but it's a huge turn off to non smokers.

Do you do any other drugs? Drink more often than a year ago? Sleep less? Eat worse? More stressed? There can be many factors.

You're blessed with interesting good looks. "Interesting" means that you are not a stud, but you have a nice face, a type of nice face that attracts and intrigues ladies. You look a bit wasted in the recent pic, but it's probably due to the smoking stuff.

What you all are saying is pretty much right on. I dont get enough sleep. I dont eat well. I dont take care of my body. I drink to much. I smoke like a pack a day (which by the way even though ive only been smoking for a year it is more addicting than I could have ever imagined). I guess Ill just try and take better care of myself.

Next time you wonder about that, see what freshman year does to so many college girls. *cries*

Add an extra 1-2 hours sleep on what your currently getting, detox from all drugs (caffiene + cigs + booze), drink lots of water and eat healthier.

Now if only it was as easy to do as it was to type.

i somehow feel like you man, i feel unattractive to the opposite sex, also i started smoking, having less sleep, losing my hair, started having a double chin, i wish i could have 26 but no i'm 30, and my skin and hair are affected by age. but i sure know that having more sleep, hiting the gym and drinking lots of water and eat healthier sure helps

btw i dont think having more sleep reduces the bags under the eyes, i tried it and it didnt work, so if anyone knows of a effective way please share.

dont give up wizzie, do what these guys tell you, it will help

Yeah, I've been through the same. Some days I wake up and look old and haggard, and kinda drawn, then other days my skin is flawless and I'm generally happy with what I see. My looks definitely improved after quitting smoking and eating healthily though.

Smoking and lack of sleep are two major factors that will harm your skin quality and looks. Your diet is another - i.e. not enough nutrients, too much stimulants like caffeine and alcohol.

Some measures you can take include: drinking lots of water (approved by all models), quitting smoking (I know, easier said than done, but this is surely an incentive), getting lots of sleep, lowering or giving up alcohol, regular exercise and moisturising your skin.

Meanwhile, on days where you look rough, wash your face in ice cold water as it firms up your skin. Better yet, apply ice cubes to the under area of your eyes.

Also, in the older pic I notice you do have a strong jawline, which I don't see so much in the other. Basic jaw exercises should help out there (clenching your teeth together regularly so you can feel the jaw muscles flex) and give more of a firm definition to your face.

And don't judge yourself by photos. A lot of factors can make for unflattering pictures and flash photography in a dark setting - like in your new pic - is the least flattering!

Yep happened to me. I used to be hot, at least a 7/8 and now im a 3 or 4. A range of things have happened to me. Dark circles in my eyes (my eyes are just out of it. they used to look bright), yellow teeth from smoking, losing hair at 20! (its gone all weak and **** and my hair used to be my best attribute), acne, weight gained. **** sucks. The different in the way you get treated when your attractive from ugly is amazing. Girls used to hang on me, now they hardly know i exist.

Ill do something about this though.

It does with some people. Others, like myself who are a quarter Italian, aren't so lucky. Sleep doesn't get rid of them completely, but it does reduce it. I'm sure there are other factors though too.

No way, smoking impacts your looks greatly. A woman will look +5 and sound +10 if she smokes. For guys obviously an older sounding voice isn't bad but the looks may be. Stop smoking, if not for your health at least for your looks!

To be honest, you look like 25+ not a 20 year old. Yes it's that bad. It's bad when people say you look OLDER by 3 years your age. It's good when people say you look younger or right at your age.
