I need a tip. There's this girl I'm working on setting up a date with. She lives in my dorm, but I felt it would be wise to get a telephone number. I dropped by her room and she wasn't there. I just checked her profile on Facebook, and she uploaded her number as part of an image to promote her fashion designs.

The way I see it, if somebody posts info on facebook, I can use it. I wouldn't normally have a problem with calling somebody using a facebook number, but it seems like these days, there is this unspoken rule that no matter what somebody posts on facebook, referencing or utilizing the info is creepy and stalkerish. Any thoughts?

In your situation, since she lives in your dorm, you should get the number from her directly.

If you had no way to see her in person, then I would get her EMAIL from facebook, and then email her to get her number.

OK. I just tried to get her number directly tonight and she wasn't there. I don't want to make an ass of myself in the event that I miss her again. I don't want to seem too eager/needy. Perhaps I'll just facebook message for her number.

Never use someone's phone number unless you got it from them or someone that they know (there are exceptions, but definitely not in this case). Since you know her in person, ask her in person. Even if you didn't know her in person, it's expected that you ask for it regardless.
