have you ever met a girl who liked anime?
so i'm living in china at the moment and i met a girl and she's often watches an anime (japanese cartoon) named Naruto. i know its very popular in china but i'm very confused about this girl.
i met her at a club and we drank a lot etc etc and she seemed very fun, maybe a bad girl...she's 21, but hearing about this whole anime interest is kind of a turn off. where i come from there's a negative stereotype around people who like anime.

anyways, so what are your thoughts and have you ever had any experience with this type of girl?

Who cares, it's a hobby. It's like someone suddenly being turned off by you because you like watching a certain genre of movies (say classics or slasher flicks). It makes no sense that suddenly this girl isn't desirable because she watches anime.

I know girls who like anime

The key is to find out *how much* she likes anime.

If she likes anime excessively, I can guarantee you she has a weakness somewhere

Girls are social, and so girls seek to bond with people. Some factors prevent girls from socializing, i.e. not being physically attractive, low self-esteem, bad personality, etc. so they turn to anime to *get off* socially in a fantasy world.

It is analogous to guys watching porn.

Notice how the beautiful girls are always the most *social* in real life - that is a girl's natural tendency.

LOL. Dude, so this chick's into anime and you're worried? Ha! Worry about it when she's into gay midget porn!

But, like Trader says, if she's obsessed with it, then yeah, there's probably a character flaw somewhere...

She's not forcing you to watch it, is she?

I find it weird that you are living in China and your concerned about Chinese girl that likes anime.

I'd be more worried about culture differences than what she likes to on TV.

BTW...RIP Kakashi :(

Goddamn you guys, spoiler alert please?

You're in an asian country where it's normal for people to watch anime. That's like being turned off by an American girl who watches The Simpsons. Besides Naruto is one of the most popular shows in the world. One of my friends is a gangbanger and he is never afraid to tell people that he loves watching Naruto. If she's one of those girls that center her entire life around anime and does nothing but watch anime, then you have a problem.

It happened two weeks ago in the anime. Don't tell me you guys are waiting for the DVD's. Does it even air in the U.S. any more?

There are so many ways to watch the episodes right after they air I thought everybody with an interest in Naruto was in the know.

My apologies.

Edit: Just checked Wikipedia. Apparently the English episodes are two years and 120 something episodes behind the Japanese episodes.

So yeah, he just died. I'm not going to say how, why or when. I don't recommend searching for how it happened. You'll find out in a couple of years.

Yeah, just the anime. I really hope he isn't dead as it hasn't been 100% confirmed. But I don't have much hope. Kakashi was one of my favorite characters.
