Every Marine I have met or seen on TV etc. seems ultra confident.

I have seem what those guys go through and it just reinforces my belief that making it through extremely stressful/fearful situations does MORE wonders for your confidence than your physical looks, education etc.

On another point, my great uncle was a US Army paratrooper in WWII who fought the Nazi's in several countries. He was just an average looking Italian-American guy (from old pics I have seen) with a big schnozz but managed to swoop my future great aunt right off her of feet when he returned from the war. My great aunt was an attractive blonde-haired blue eyed polish girl who was engaged to another guy until she met my uncle.

Point being, do **** that stresses you out or scares the **** out of you, it will do wonders for your confidence. I know this is easier said than done. I have thought about flinging myself out of a perfectly good airplane to achieve this effect, but still can't find the logic to do it....lol

You are totally right. I have never met a Marine who didn't seem confident. Of course there's your occasional crazy shellshocked marine who has seen too much sh*t out on the battlefield and is f*cked for life, but yeah, for the most part I agree with you. Confidence comes down to nothing more than believing in yourself. The only way to get confidence is too constantly find ways to get out of your comfort zone. Whether it means like you said above, jumping out of an airplane, or approaching 9's walking down the street, or going on some adventure trekking the Amazon or whatever.

Great topic!

I agree that makeing it thru stressful situations and all that makes you stronger. I went thru a crazy hard time there for the last few years with a number things happening and kind of *****ed out of life but in the end its made me stronger. I think its a case of when you see proper real life problems and live thru them and overcome them the normal everyday problems don't seem that big to ya anymore and plus if gives you more confidence in yourself in the sense that you think ''If i can overcome that, then I can overcome this'' if ya know what im saying.
