I was always curious as to why I would never really see journals like how the DJ Bootcamp Journal entries go. I have started at 247 lbs. I want to get down to 10% body fat by the end of my school year (May 2004) so when I come back home, I can go swimming, and all that while attracting the hometown honeys. Its not my only motivation as my uncle recently was diagnosed with diabetes. He is the 5th person in my extended family to have it. They all wished they had eaten right so there is another motivation factor.

I believe this journal can also help me get motivated to get to that weight because every time I check the board, I will always see it there as a reminder of what to do.

Week One: 247 lbs
----------------------

Day One: October 28, 2003

I ate very unhealthily the previous day. I printed off DIESEL's cutting post as well as a few posts that were worthy of being printed off last night. It was the first thing I looked at in the morning. My usual morning routine was to eat pancakes, potato rounds, and waffles.

This morning I started off with two scoops of Whey Protein and a little Flax Oil in skim milk. Then when I went to the cafeteria, they had sunny side up eggs so I ate the egg whites. It tasted ok, the pepper made it taste better. I just drank water with the eggs since I already had my amount of dairy for the morning. This was approximately 8:30 am.

Around 10:30 am, I had two apples for my midmorning snack. I noticed this morning instead of feeling like I needed to get more sleep, I was very much active. Excellent. I already liked the feeling I got.

At 12:00 pm, I had two scoops of whey protein and some skim milk. Lunch at the cafeteria was extremely unhealthy (nothing good enough to eat) so I went back to my room and microwaved me two servings of Oatmeal. I found out that I already had more energy than usual. Normally, I like to skip irrelevant classes in order to sit on my ass and watch TV but today I went to the class and it wasn't that bad. Didn't sleep at all during the lecture. I felt great from that.

I got back at 2:00 pm and had two more apples. I steal them from the cafeteria so I stocked my refridgerator with at least 5 apples. I then chased it down (lol) with almost a quart of water.

For dinner, I had one protein drink. One scoop of whey protein and skim milk. I went down to the cafeteria (this is 4:30 pm) and the only thing that was good for me was Smoked Turkey. I had about 12 or so slices of that and felt great. I drank about three 8 oz cups of water.

Well, that was my day today. The reason why I didn't do any lifting is because I lift Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. I am going to do some HIIT tonight where I sprint a lap, jog a lap, and so on for at least 12 laps (12 laps = 1 mile at this place I run at)

To add to Day One, it was my first day of HIIT. I got a table from muscledepot.com and it was a killer. I usually run 1-1.5 miles daily (bad for my muscles I guess) and I got more of a workout in four minutes doing HIIT. I felt like I nearly died but the best thing was that my leg muscles were not sore at all, which is probably a good thing. After that, I had an apple and started hitting the water. I drank over a half gallon of water for sure.

yea, HIIT is no joke. The first couple days after your first workout are brutal.

Believe you me, your legs will let you know about it tomorrow...
Yes. They burned so bad today. My abs also hurt. Don't ask me why. Maybe somehow I did ab exercises with HIIT and do not know it

Day Two: October 29, 2003

Damn, the temptations of eating junk food were higher today than yesterday. Keeping my eye on the prize (of my weight and physique), I resisted.

I slept in a little and ate breakfast at 9:30 am. My arms are still sore from the arm workout I did on Monday so I had a protein oriented breakfast. I had two scoops of whey protein, a little bit of flax oil, and some skim milk. I also went to the cafeteria where they had hard boiled eggs, making it really easy to only eat the egg whites. So I had six of them. Since there was no time for a midmorning snack, I just ate an apple.

Since I didn't work out yesterday, I did not feel I needed to load up on protein like I did yesterday (or am I wrong; help me on this) but I had two servings of oatmeal and drank a 16 oz glass of skim milk. At first I did not really like skim milk but now I am getting used to it. This was around 11:00 am.

My classes ended at 4:00 pm so I unpacked everything in my room and did another HIIT routine. I am very busy today so I pushed all my lifting back one day (so now I lift Thursday, Friday, Sunday, and Monday) which I didn't like but whatever. As usual (so far), HIIT kicked my ass. After that I ate an apple and currently am drinking water. I will eat dinner about 6:30 pm or so.

Honestly I like how I'm feeling so far but I am even more anxious for next week. The reason why is that I get about $1000 (right now I have $50) and am getting Glutamine, Creatine, Fat Burner, and EAS Myoplex. All of this will cost probably around $150 which will definitely keep me motivated to stay on this track. I am also looking forward to weighing in on Tuesday to see the progress I made already.

This is normal if you're not in good shape. When you sprint, you also tighten up your torso/abs.

If you don't know your bodyfat I HIGHLY recommend that you have it measured.
This is a good idea. If you're unable to get it done at a gym, www.mybodycomp.com has a pretty good body fat measuring system. It's also a good way to keep track of your body changes.

My bodyfat as of August was 27% but could be off by 3%. I will sign up for that. Before doing this, I ran a mile a day and ate somewhat healthily so it may be 25%. I will see. I am also 6' tall. My fat is very disproportional. I have no fat on the legs where they did the caliper at. The biggest amount of fat was on my stomach but there was a lot of fat on my chest too.

I scanned your diet information and think you probably have too much glucose in there -- I wouldn't eat any fruit during a cutting cycle
Ok. I will cut the apple out.

Good luck, I'm looking forward to seeing this journal.
Thanks. I'm just anticipating when I get my money to get the supplements to really make some nice strides.

Day Three: October 30, 2003

This morning I started off with a scoop of whey protein and skim milk. I eat a lot of scrambled eggs in the cafeteria and have a small serving of hash browns. This was 9:30 am.

I was feeling great. For lunch I had two servings of oatmeal and two scoops of whey with skim milk. This was 11:30 am.

For dinner, I didn't want to have the protein first so I went into the lunch room and damn, absolutely nothing good. So I made a dumb mistake by having five breadsticks. Ouch. This was 4:30 pm or so.

What sucks now is that I am completely sluggish. I didn't know that this could actually affect me this way. Could five breadsticks do this to me? After going on this board, I will have some more protein in hopes of restoring my energy.

5 breadsticks could very well make you sluggish. It all has to do with the glycemic index. Insulin rushes in to take the glucose away and it does too good of a job. It can make you feel damn sluggish.

Limit carbs, but remember Atkins is not for athletes!
