I am studying economics, and I am going to try to break down DHV using economic theories, and perhaps give you some better understanding of what you can do to raise your perceived value in the eyes of others. Some may say that I am overanalyzing things. You are probably right. But, hear me out; I think there is some validity to this. This isn’t speed seduction material, but rather something to help you in any social setting where you will be dealing with groups of people, such as a club at school or an informal group of friends.
For some time, I have heard of the PUA concept of “DHV”, or demonstrating higher value. I couldn’t quite comprehend exactly what it meant, and being more from the Pook school of thought focusing on “inner-game”, I didn’t really bother with it.
But, being that I am a student of economics, it eventually made more sense to me, and I realized that I had been studying this all along but using economic terminology. Economics isn’t just about stock markets and tax rates; you can really use it to model a lot about human behavior.
What gives something value? Utility. It’s why gold is more valuable than lead. Throughout history, gold has been used as an easily malleable metal for all kinds of purposes. Even in the 21st century, gold is used in some high-end electronics.
What gives people utility then? Most of it is what can be found on this website in the fabled Don Juan Bible, and the writings of legendary posters like Pook and Señor Fingers. You work out. You study things worthwhile. You read. You approach girls and learn what works and what does not.
I was doing this, but something was missing from my game.
That something is why diamonds, with very little utility outside of jewelry and a few industrial cutting applications, are far more valuable than water—and water is absolutely essential for life. It’s scarcity.
