I got 2 different things I need adressed by you guys.

1) I try to eat healthy, but I still eat too much sweets. *I AM NOT OVERWEIGHT* I'm 16 and about 115 lbs. But, I need to stop eating unhealthy. How can I stop overeating sweets?

2) What's a protien shake for? See, I want to gain muscle mass and develop a more full six-pack. I wanted to know ways to do that. I read the bulking and cutting guides, but those don't seem to be what I'm looking for.

Thanks guys,
Shapoopie

1. If you eat 6 smaller meals a day that are nutritional (lean meat, chicken, fish, fruit, vegetables, nuts, oats, basmati rice, eggs etc) you will not get hungry. It may take a week or so to adjust to it, but once you have you will not crave junk food.

2. Protein shakes are more for convenience than a sole source of nutrition. I only have one when I wake up and right after I finish training. At these times your body needs protein that will be absorbed straight away. But aside from that the rest of your protein sources should come from real food.

As for your six-pack, how visible your abs are, are determined by how much bodyfat you have. Obviously as you get bigger they will also get bigger, but abs are very hard to train for hypertrophy, hence why it is more of a bodyfat issue than amount of muscle mass.

Since you are a high school student, eating 5-6 meals is a lot more difficult. I suggest 4.

Get a decent breakfast. Learn to cook oatmeal and eggs. It's brutally easy and quick. Both of which are dirt cheap. When you eat eggs, eat them in egg white form or have at most one full egg with a yolk (ex. 3 egg white, 1 full egg OR 4 egg white). Throw in minor bits of pepper and salt for taste. As for oatmeal you gauge how much you can take, you can use some brown sugar, probably one spoon per serving. Avoid white sugar at all costs, that crap actually takes some nutrients out of your body to get absorbed. You can throw in fruit slices to spruce up the taste. Remember AVOID INSTANT OATMEAL AT ALL COSTS.

As for school lunches, make sandwiches. Whole wheat bread, chicken breast or tuna in the middle, and whatever dark green veggies and tomatoes. So that the bread doesn't get soggy, I suggest you keep one container for vegetable and meat and another for the bread. Throw some yogurt, fruits and nuts on the side.

As an alternative to a sandwich you do stir fry with meat, veggies and brown/wild rice. If the school as a microwave, you can reheat it.

As for post school meal and dinner do some surfing for it. You have a lot more time to prepare for this. Don't worry about protein bars at this stage, use that money you want to spend on it on better meals and food instead.

Yea I forgot to mention; how often do you lift weights? Do you know how to lift properly?

I do not know anything about lifting weights. I am taking a conditioning class next year and want to take weight training, but I am, quite bluntly, embarrassed to be doing that for the first time when im 18. I would much rather get a trainer and do it at the gym

Hehe, I thought he was a skinny girl at first. KillaPete, drill him good.

Food, mass, bulk, burn, build. Repeat for three months. Than come back and complain about being overweight.

find replacements for unhealthy foods

i.e:

ice cream -- non fat frozen yogurt
french fries -- potatoes
candy -- strawberries, bananas, pineapple,
chocolate -- if you're gonna go insane if you don't eat chocolate then get it in a protein bar or shake so you at least get something good out of it
