Hey, I take sleeping pills before going to bed and they make me really hungry.

I am trying to burn the small amount of fat I have on my stomache, so I can have a six pack.

Will eating before I go to bed greatly hinder this fat loss? I am extremely hungry before i go to bed.

I was read an article called "the 10 biggest myths in bodybuilding" or something written by a really succesful bodybuilder. All those things he called myths were things that are completely wrong (like spot reduction...muscle mass "turns" into fat when you stop working out, etc.). Among those myths was that you shouldnt eat before you go to bed cause itll make you fat (and the writer said that it was scientifically proven that this isnt true). However I heared Ralf Moeller, the german bodybuilder who played in films like gladiator (? Im not quite sure if he was in that movie but I think so lol), say that he wasnt on a really strict diet or anything ,but that he didnt eat before he went to bed, because he didnt wanna gain fat. Actually I think the first thing is probably true though, cant really tell for sure. However everytime I dieted I did eat a meal before going to bed (not a big one though..you dont eat "big meals" when youre on a fat loss diet anyways) and everything worked out the way I wanted it to. So I suggest you eat before u go to bed, but dont eat a really big meal or anything if you're unscecure about it...dont think it matters much tho.

I eat a very small meal before I go to bed. When I bulk it's a cup and a half of skim milk, some green veggies, and flax oil (or peanuts). Now that I'm cutting, I dropped the milk. It hasn't hurt me yet.

I ate before I went to bed last night and I woke up at 2 and threw up. At least I made it outside. probably won't do that again.

Have a protein + fat meal before you sleep. The fat will slow down the digestion of protein, which is what you want when you sleep for hours.

MatIm,

You sound like me. I was thinking that same thing.
I heard you should eat protein that takes a longer time to digest, like chicken or tuna, (rather than a whey protein drink) cause you want to feed your muscles throughout the night. I forgot that word that describes this, something like "catabolic", which means your body cannabalizes your muscle mass when it doesn't have anything else to burn while you sleep.

However, that doesn't mean pig out before you go to bed.

You should not eat before you go to sleep because your liver has to focus on bile production, aiding in digestion instead of filtering the toxins out of your blood, which is what is meant to happen as you sleep.

If you absolutely MUST eat something, have some fresh, non citrus fruit, like apple or banana.

But ideally you should eat at least 2-3 hours before you crash out.
