How many eat alone at restarants?

I am forcing myself and did that today and stopped by a steak house and ordered a rib eye. It felt a bit wierd while I looked around and everyone there was with someone but I found the time to talk with the waitress and a few ladies that walked by my table. I saw them coming my way I made eye contact and ask how they were and made small talk and found them to be extremely friendly with me.

I won't bore anyone with the major life changes that have occurred in the pass 4 month in what I feel has put me into afc behaviour and feeling more the pu**y.

With the great advice I am recieving here and you know who you are though I haven't met you face to face I see each of you as friends and todays experience tells me and the lady I will set up lunch with this week life will be OK and I will return to the man I once was.

I am forever grateful.

So you're saying we shouldn't go out to eat good food just because we will go there alone? You really have the wrong mentality there brother. You really are a wussy i mean seriously I just can't imagine john wayne, sean connery, joe pesci saying to themselves "I really want to go eat some steak but i'm embarrased to eat alone in front of people eating with friends."

I hope that you work to change your mentality. And just remember these people don't pay your rent, they were not there to raise you, they were not there to take care of you when you were sick. These people don't matter so stop worrying about them.

I do it at least once a week. On Sundays I know my Fiancee really doesn't want to cook and I go to the horse track usually and she has the kid at home.. I usually take the time to just take myself out to eat before I go home. GEt a nice newspaper or a magazine, have a really good meal, just spend some QT with myself.

don't let the American cultural stereotyping he must be crazy/stupid/loser becuase he is out at a restaurant by himself get to you. take yourself out. in fact i suggest more men learn that you don't need a woman to have a good time.

Entirely depends on the type of restaurant. Some cheap or mid-priced restaurants like a TGI Friday that aren't all that busy I don't feel strange to eat at alone. But I couldn't see going to a classy restaurant, the type that's full of couples, by myself. There's always takeout.

Eating alone at restaurants is a GOLDEN opportunity talk to girls and practice your game. Pick three or four restaurants that YOU REALLY LIKE, and make a point to go there enough so the waitresses get to know you. After a few times, you'll get on a first name basis. Go there during non peak hours, like at 2pm, and bring something, like a financial newspaper or something related to your work.

I used to go to this thai restaurant a couple times a week, and went out with the waitresses a few times (as a group, not one on one).

It wasn't uncommon for one of them to sit and chat with me for a bit while I ate.

Great conversation practice for talking to younger girls.

I really appreciate the other posters replies and there level of maturity in addressing my question except for yours f283000.

If you go back and read where I said this ('I won't bore anyone with the major life changes that have occurred in the pass 4 months in what I feel has put me into afc behaviour and feeling more the pu**y.')

I really don't need you to tell me anything more in what you feel I am as I am in a diffcult place right now in my life and working myself out of like a man should.

You remind me of the old sexually uptight moralist old hags on AOL message boards in how they respond to a brother or sister who just wants encouragment that everything will be OK but always insist on name calling and trying to make a difficult situation worth in stead of better.

Another thing I didn't say we shouldn't go out and eat alone..... learn to read first before you spit your bulls*t brother and you'll be a better man for it.

Interesting question.

I too felt the same way not too long ago. However, I tried it a few times. I think it does depend on the eatery.

Some people look down on it - I use to be one of those people. However, now I feel more comfortable doing it. It depends on the self-confidence.

Try it a few times in different situations. I have never done dinner by myself - but lunch is cool.

As i get older I like enjoying meals on my own - I get to really savor everything without anyone bothering me.

I dine out by myself all the time. I don't currently do it nearly as much as I once did, because it's dang expensive, but I am an habitual connoisseur. Plus, as much as I like eating with people, I prefer eating alone, to immerse myself in my thoughts.

I am forcing myself and did that today and stopped by a steak house and ordered a rib eye. It felt a bit wierd while I looked around and everyone there was with someone but I found the time to talk with the waitress and a few ladies that walked by my table.
Eat at the bar. It's really great. There are benefits to sitting at a bar which you are not afforded by sitting at a conventional table: instant seating, quicker meal, no weird stigma of solitude, fascinating conversations with strangers, comradery with regulars, free drinks from bartenders (in the right establishments). The bartenders will also secretly be happier at you than waitresses who are secretly pissed that you're one person (one top) taking up a table for four people (four top). The downsides are few: occasionally a bar may be full, occasionally it's hard to get service.

There's nothing weird about eating alone. If you thought so, it would be because your value was something you derive from others.

That's how most people think.

Success is the business of standing out, not fitting in.

Don't always be the one putting yourself out for her. Don't always be the one putting all the effort and work into the relationship. Let her, and expect her, to treat you as well as you treat her, and to improve the quality of your life.

If you don't want to eat out because you will eat alone you are not a man you are a p____. This thread is the epitome of everything that is wrong with men in our age. No wonder you have women problems! what else are you afraid of? spiders?

This thread makes me sick to my stomach.
I really don't need you to tell me anything more in what you feel I am as I am in a diffcult place right now in my life and working myself out of like a man should.
I'm happy for you brother but did you know there are millions of children in africa who are starving to death this very second? Instead of reminding yourself about how "horrible" your life is just remember that you have it really good compared to hundreds of millions of people around the world. Stop making yourself a victim of a cruel life and instead man up and stop being a p___. So many would love to trade their life for yours you don't even know it.

I remember the first time I ate out alone...I had just closed my first deal for 8 grand, put a deposit on a new apartment and was ready to move up in life. I went to a Steakhouse and ordered a drink and a huge steak and sat there eating it with a smile on my face. At first it felt weird going into the place alone, but I kept thinking, dammit I deserve this, I've been dodging my landlord and eating ramen noodles for the last 3-4 months!

America makes you feel guilt, fear, paranoia, and self-doubt. That is what it does to American men. You can't do anything without feeling one of those very things as an American man stuck in America! I was once like that until I started traveling most of the time. Outside of America you see a lot of guys by themselves. It means nothing. Many of us enjoy spending time eating alone, going out alone, or walking by ourselves. Aloneness is one of the most beautiful things we can experience.

Here is an idea. Visit the dynamic and modern town of Kiev in Ukraine. Everyone will know that as an American that you can get what you want. But once you know that everyone knows this you chill a bit. You become comfortable with who you are. You don't worry about how others view you. You enjoy life more. The pressure is finally released! You have nothing to prove. Finally, you will be able to enjoy life.

I remember back when I had my first company.. 2 years of eating noodles (what is it abut noodles, it's like the offical broke fvck food) and microwave burritos and crap, I had spend 48 hours straight working on getting our new marketing campaign going.. I woke up the next morning and had 15 orders sitting in my inbox.. i knew then we had arrived finally..

that night i will never forget it.. after working utnil like 9pm I took myself to A chinese restaurant in little rock called the forbidden city, orderd 2 strawberry daquari's, shrimp fried rice no veggies, extra duck sauce and hot and sour soup and ate/felt like a damn king. one fo the most fufilling meals I ever ate in my life.

Well, here's the thing. I NEVER eat out alone. I cook at home, but, every now and then (once every 3 months), I just Have to eat a big ass breakfast at my favorite breakfast place as a reward for working so hard all week. When I'm out of town working and the company gives me 30 dollar to eat on, I'll eat everywhere Alone, fancy dining, pizza place, you name it, I try the whole menu, and the staff knows I'm on official business.

I was backpacking around south america for a few months, where I pretty much ate every meal out coz I'm a lazy fvck and had the budget, many of these times were on my own, including some ritzy "date" type places, no reading material, nothing.

Being alone in a foreign country forced me to grow emotionally. I feel more mature and independent than ever before and little things like eating out alone do not bother me like they would have 6 months ago.

I eat alone for lunch at least 3 days a week depending on what projects I'm working on. I do have to have a distraction while I eat though, so I bring along my laptop or a magazine. The Panera bread by the Florida mall here is usually packed with beautiful women and I see most eating alone. I don't know if you have a place like Panera where you're at, but If I were single and 50 this would be a great place to practice day Game.

I have no problem eating alone when sitting at the bar (if you're at a pub type place) and
enjoy a nice draft while waiting for my food.

I just don't sit at a table. Then you can chat with the bartender also.

But yeah, some places like panera bread are perfectly normal to eat alone at.

Then again, whats normal? Screw normal, its boring.

Well I'm here to tell you there is such a magic wand. Something that will make you almost completely irresistible to any woman you "point it" at. Something guaranteed to fill your life with love, romance, and excitement.
