Got an easy way to make homemade kefir I'll share...

Take your store bought milk, coconut milk, almond milk, etc or make almond/coconut milk yourself...take a cup of raw almonds and 16 oz of water, mix in a blender and strain out the chopped almonds...save for later to use in cereal, breads, or eat plain...

Take the milk or strained mixture and dump 6-8 probiotic capsules in it...if you have several different probiotics even better...take a few of each capsule...

If you have Inulin, add some to this, its a prebiotic undigestible fructose the bacteria LOVE...they will rapidly multiply. If not you can add some brown sugar, molasses, turbinado or even regular sugar...the bacteria will use it as food, none will be left when they are done...

Put a towel over the top of the bowl, or you can use a mason jar or Fido jar instead and put it in an unheated oven and let it sit overnight. The next morning there should be a film on top, this means its working...let sit for another 24-36 hours and it will be ready to drink, teeming with good bacteria...

Now instead of taking capsules with a few billion bacteria, you will be taking a few TRILLION bacteria every time you drink this...

Save a cup of this for use as a starter culture for the next batch and you no longer need to use the probiotic capsules...

There you have it, cheap easy kefir you can have ready in 36-48 hours...doesn't take 3-4 weeks like sauerkraut and no goitrogens that can inhibit your thyroid function either

I personally have a custom blend I use with my 15 strain vitacost brand(excellent brand, imho), Dr. Ohhiru's custom strain and S. Boullardii prebiotuc yeast...works awesome and will load you up on gut goodness...

While I have been looking for a way to add in pro-biotics to my diet, I must say this sounds disgusting and I see no way I would be able to choke it down. Does it take good? I have also heard to stay away from pro-biotics in pill form.

And, are the pro-biotic bacteria going to eat the sugar? I thought it was the other way around, thought the candida feasted on sugar.

It tastes like a fermented, slightly different tasting version of what you used as your base, not disgusting at all, but can be thicker in texture or a little chunky...

And as long as you use quality capsules, you should be fine...some capsules don't have a good shelf life, ie provide non living or far less the amount than they say...

And the bacteria will definitely eat up the sugar...its how people make water kefir, by adding sugar to water and adding water kefir grains
