I think i heard a lot of guys have this problem also. I am 5'8 and about 145lbs and all my shirts are medium. I always wear them untucked unless i wear it under my V-neck sweater. The thing is it always looks sort of loose and from the guys here posting... loose is not good. However, small is sort of tight.

Why do they not have shirts between a small and a medium? I am skinny so i fall between there. I also feel weird wearing a small since 5'8 isn't really short. Someone in another forum mentioned that he is like me sort of 5'7 and 140lbs and always have shirts either small or extra small and said it doesn't matter what size the shirt says as long as you feel it looks good. I also heard there are some guys who are 5'9 and 6'0 who wear medium and am around 160lbs or so.

Does anyone with the measurements like mine.. 5'8 and 145lbs wear small or medium? I know there are some of those guys that wear Small shirts eventhough they are 5'11 because they want to show their muscles.

Oops i meant dress shirts or casual shirts that are long sleeve.

If your not 5'8 and around 145lbs, can you guys list your height and weight and list what size you wear?

Thanks.

Get professionally measured, buy your clothing which have actual neck/arm length sizes. If you can, look for "fitted" shirts (they're tapered). Then have a tailor make any minor adjustments. It shouldn't cost more than $5-7 per shirt if it's already close to your size. It's worth the extra cost.

Where can i get professional measured and how much does it cost? I can't do this at Macys can i? I'm already 21 and feel sort of slow b/c i never did this sort of thing most guys probably done already.

Would your 15.5 shirts be a medium because i have some shirts that are 15.5 and I am only 5'8 and your 5'11. Definitely i should be a small from looking at your stats.

You should be able to get measured in the Men's Suits Deparment at Macy's. I'm considered a medium/tall due to my arm length. Mind you because of the up-sizing of American clothing sizes, off the rack I can actually wear many small size shirts as long as they have short sleeves. This is why you seem to run into clothing which seem too big for you (join the club).

well i am not considering buying a suit yet. Can i just get myself professionally measured at a tailor for a price? I just want my measurements so i can go into any store and just buy suits later on or shirts and have my sizing ready.

You don't have to buy a suite but it would be to your advantage to try on a couple of shirts and jackets in order to tell how clothing should fit. Certain fabrics could lay differently on you. Also, clothing could vary in size by manufacturer.

thanks a lot. I have another question i forgot to ask. I heard someone said the perfect size for a shirt when it is untucked on the front is to have it end right in the middle of your zipper in your jeans. Is that true?

generally that looks the best, but depending on your height (we share the same), it can be pretty difficult to find shirts that don't go any lower than that when untucked. I used to be in the 145-150 range and it was nearly impossible to find shirts that didn't hang so low. I've gone up to around 170 and have a fuller upper body (i can tell because almost all of the shirts I bought in '05 don't fit anymore), and nowadays it's a lot easier to find such shirts. I've gone from a small to a medium, and some mediums are even kinda too tight. It's in your best interest, shirt-wise, to bulk up.

I don't know about it being "perfect" per se, but aesthetically it looks good. The fit will be different from guy to guy because our torso's aren't all the same length.

Use all this information as a guide and not necessarily the gospel. That's why trying things on and actually taking note about how things fit and look on you personally is typically best.

One other thing, its advantageous to know a few women who enjoy going clothes shopping. More times than not they have good taste and a good eye to detail and fit. Plus they can help you in the dressing room while you are disrobing.

would the shirt look bad if its say a little higher than that spot i mentioned or would that be terrible?

Create self-fulfilling prophecies. Always assume the positive. Assume she likes you. Assume she wants to talk to you. Assume she wants to go out with you. When you think positive, positive things happen.
