Life is what you make of it, if you have a positive outlook nomatter what, you will enjoy it alot more than the pessimist. Frizolous, I think you have great intentions, to be honest, I think your right.

If a relationship is what you are looking for in life, then the only way to go is to give, to let go. If it fails, it fails, that's life, pick yourself up and start again. You get what you give, if you hold back then you probably should not be in that relationship.

But I will also tell you why you are constantly being flamed. You haven't experienced life to say these things and know what you are talking about. You haven't experienced real life relationship stress, you are only 23, wait until you are scrounging for money for the mortgage payments, you haven't had to take care of sick kids, I won't go on but the list does. You can say that you have been burned before, but a losing a girlfriend at age 20 is not comparable to losing your wife, kids and house, so don't for a second act like you understand.

Where, exactly, did I insult you? All I did was point out the obvious. On another thread you actually insulted me uninvited. In fact, that's mostly what I've seen you do as of late. That's why I posted the link. There's a discussion going on in that thread that you could benefit from reading. You're displaying the very behavior that is harmful to not only yourself, but to this entire site. If you guys could stop hating on each other with all this fake ass posturing long enough you might just make some good progress and learn something. No one is learning much here because instead of helping one another you're all behaving like a bunch of catty pmsing biotches. they say fools learn from their own mistakes, wise by their own -true for everyday stuff, but some lessons in life, you have to learn emotionally, you have to actually FEEL them: you can't get that 2nd hand.

BUT.. Do run with your current attitude, always put relationship before material and never take another person for granted (you won't want them doing it to you!)... oh, and NEVER compromise your OWN values/ethics - for ANYONE.

We had a 17-year old on here a couple years saying we didn't know squat and experience counted for nothing ... wonder if he'll be singing that tune at age 35 or 40? I doubt it. Another guy last week said he was done growing as a person at age 21 ... doubt he'll be singing that tune in just five years.

Unless you've just parked your a$$ in front of the tube and you don't challenge yourself, life will be a serious emotional rollercoaster for most of your life. It's how you deal with those ups and downs that makes or breaks you as a person.

Friv, my guess is after the child is born everything will change for you -- most in a good way. But a child will change you. Good luck!

you can't generalize everything, man, and you've been doing that a lot lately.

giving is good at the right moment. But its not always appropriate, does not always make you feel good, does not always make people respect and appreciate you.

its more complicated than that.

if however, you'd conduct a nice empirical study of just how good or bad giving is opposed to lets say taking, and maybe if you use a proper methodology, good sample, and show me the results, than we'll talk I want some statistical siginificance, damnit!

(sorry, i gotta get out of my research mood)

but seriously, it all depends. Oh and in case you're wondering, so far the statistics are not on your side
